  1. the 70s without any doubt.
  2. The only thing i can suggest is i set up an account in mine and Dans name through my Natwest account. OR probably a better idea Dan sets up an account we all pay into. ? This may go tits up. Never done it before.
  3. Totally unique soul singer. And that what she really was, a soul singer and she was fabulous at it, she just happened to record some rockish music. I have this DVD. She was in her 60s when she did this live performance. Incredible.!!! .. Like Marvin said she was a one off. I always think instead of getting whizzed off just watch something thats a positive. This is just....
  4. Utterly fabulous Jazz bass. When you pick this bass up you can feel it. Spec this from Johnny at Atelier with a custom colour now and it would cost you way north of £2500. Glwts Jason.
  5. WOW. The best electric bass on the planet bar none.
  6. Wha a cracker of a bass part this was.he even played some double stops
  7. I care not for his later life. This is just fantastic. He was 13 when he sang this. It is probably one of the greatest vocal performances ive ever heard.
  8. We are giving Dan money to keep his Shuker. That was my idea. It will always belong to him. He has given alot to BC/YT with his contributions Mick. I could have singled out anyone. But Dan has imo contributed the most. (imo) I always watch his channel. There may be others that are struggling but I saw it on FB..
  9. I can chip in £30. times that by 100 ish. The Dood keeps his Shuker. And a few quid for a Greggs.. When my mortgage triples I will expect the same when I want to keep my Sire btw.😆 Thats £2 each so start saving.
  10. Any chance BC mods can step in here and set something up.?????
  11. For sure they are, When im mortgage free in a year a Lakland 5594 or another Suhr is a must. But I think the tools are getting better and better for a cheaper price.
  12. From a shop in Kidderminster. A lovely chap on BC gave me the heads up. Not a mark on it.fairly light for a V7. 9.3 pounds on my digital scales. It was set up badly and i was using the wrong allen key.thus my previous post. .fresh set of DR Low Riders. Monstrous tones. It makes me wonder why i spent thousands on very expensive basses in the past. £240 for this quality of bass, that preamp and those pickups that sound this good. Really.???!!!
  13. .
  14. Im all sorted thanks Mick and you all.
  15. Allen key. Its on a Sire V7
  16. If i see another ( how to play fretless video) ive never understood why bass players have to do endless vibrato on a fretless. It has a certain sound but for gods sake stop . George Duke with Chris Mcbride.
  17. Too many factors to quanitfy. Yes body wood makes a small difference. But neck wood more so. Just my op. Hes well know for saying the neck wood/construction makes a bigger difference than body wood.. graphite rods in the necks makes a big difference. Its a sum of the parts. The thing is with this discussion is there are so many factors that go into making an electric bass that make a difference in tone. But neck costruction is the longest part of the instrument that the instruments strings has to vibrate against. If its a lacquered necked jazz bass which are usually maple it will sound brighter. Its because the neck cant absorb the vibration like a rosewood necked bass can.
  18. I dont need your blessing for anything mate. Im not arguing, im just saying that the whole neck has a factor in the sound that comes from the strings. "Sadowsky should show his working or get the fxxk out"? really????? no idea what your talking about.. You wanna go and ask the greatest ever builder of electric bass what he thinks.. Roger Sadowsky is easy to contact on FB. Fill your boots pal..
  19. Apart from a Lakland these are the greatest 5 string electric basses ever made. Especially the early ones.
  20. a thin strip of wood is a stretch. its the longest part of the body of an electric bass the strings have contact with. I will go with what Roger Sadowsky thinks.
  21. Ive played a couple, didn't like them. For me personally there were a bummer to set up. Very uncomfortable. Didnt like the sound of them. And I dont like the look of them. But who am I. Doesn't mean anything to what I think.. The music that was played on them is unforgettable!.
  22. oh I thought you meant someone who builds proper basses. sorry ez. 😆
