1.
He is a nice player, good groove. Yes, he is great on the Lee Ritenour and Dave Grusin gig. He can solo as well (particularly well on that damn 7 string)
WOW that was great.! thanks for posting.
2.
This is nuts in all the right ways. https://www.youtube....h?v=OL-aRjjyQpo
Thats erm, very cool. Check her out on a fretless Jazz Bass. 3. This guy is such a great bass player. If there was ever a bass player that i really dig, its this guy. His playing for me is just spot on. A great mix of slap and finger style. He never over plays, but when he does a fill, its really musical. I always had groove in my bass playing but guys like Melvin taught me some other nuances.. His playing with Lee Ritenour is very cool also.
4. Aren't all top session bass players versatile.? its what they do.
5. That is a stunner.!
6. Forget all the negative hype bullsh*te. BassWood is a great wood for bass bodies. a lot of the reason they paint it over on Fender MIJ/CIJ, is because it doasnt have the grain of Ash. It still has the tone. Music Man Bongo's are proof of that.
7. Have a Maruczszyk 5 string Jazz bass. Not digging the Delano Sonar preamp in it. which will be for sale soon. Just about to pull the trigger on a new preamp. Im thinking about the OBP2, or on the other hand I'm not sure what onboard preamps Sadowsky offer. The sadowsky onboard with the control plate is a little too expensive. any ideas or any other options.? Im not a fan of the super clean Delano. Warm and fat is what I'm after, to give you a measuring stick.
8.
To most people a Sei jazz is one of many copies, unless they know basses well it could be only be worth that. I've played in many bands, most of the other musicians in them would never have heard of Sei, ask an audience member what's worth more, a Fender Jazz or a Sei copy, I know which one they will say!
Yes but there in the business of buying and selling a huge range of goods , so there not 'most people'. the bottom line is, cash converters should know what there buying and selling no matter what the item.
9. One of the best Hip Hop albums I've bought for a while. Premier is one half of my favourite HipHop crew of all time GangStarr. There is some smokin stuff on this. Vol 1 and 2. Premo has a funky way with HHop. GangStarr's Full Clip is another double album cracker. Of course with the man himself Guru. RIP.
10. They haven't a f***ing clue. I was on hard times a while back and unbelievably i wanted to borrow money on a Sei Jazz bass. They said they could only offer me £150. I laughed at him and walked out.
11. These rarely come up on BC for sale. Ive only seen 1 in 8 years of this forum and it before. Love it. Any trades.?
12. Short question/query.... Does anyone think that the prices of these basses will go up over time.? Shuker basses were relatively cheap at one point, with time the prices (as they should for such fantastic instruments) have gone up. I remember when Sadowsky Metros were in the mid £1000's now they are way over the £2000 mark.. i wonder if Maruszczyk's will become so popular, that we will see Adrian raising his prices.?
13. The short of it i think is there way over priced. Why, because they can.The name Fodera carries a lot of weight. If any one tells me Fodera makes a bass that is worth £2000 (at least) more than a Sadowsky NYC or a Sei, i think they are deluding themselves. but each to there own of course. There is no doubt they are fantastic, but you are no doubt paying for the name. imo.
14. My sister's husband has an STR 5 string with nordy fat stacks, and it is just superb.! wonderful instrument.
15. Lovely Bass, all i have is a Maruszczyk 5 string Jazz for trade.
16. These specific Bacchus Jazz Basses are superb.
17.
I need the NYC because my shoulder is screwed so only light weight basses for me. The neck on the Sire is fantastic IMO, and in my case preferable to my Sadowsky.
Im sure the Sire is great but its not Sadowsky NYC great surely.
18. Its early 90's Marcus Miller, I'm sure some of you have seen this before. Just wonderful finger style playing from Marcus on the intro. Amazing playing from Everette Harp on sax. Poogie Bell is just.!!! Marcus never stops amazing me, with his playing, or his musical brain.
19. What preamp's do these basses have in them.?
20. Andre Berry with Mr Sanborn. with a not so good Run For Cover. lovely sounding bass though..
21. Loving this instrument.
22. Yep she's a fox.
23. i can't really listen to music if it is at 100% volume. It distracts me from actually listening to the music.. Im missing the point i guess.
24. They are all great bass player's, Nicky West, Tal, Deborah Killings, Divinity Roxx etc. but none imo come close to the woman in my sig picture. Check out her bass playing on her first album. My first love was Plantation Lullabies, which was an early introduction to Meshell, then i heard this.
