Its not his slap I'm after. But his finger style on a 5 string Jazz., and this unstoppable groove. His playing is great all the way through, but @ 3.40 its really great. It wouldn't be MM if he didn't slap for a bit. I adore this guys finger style. Very musical he always has been.Im no aware what instrument he's playing. This Maruszczyk is a fantastic bass, but can my ears get on with it. Yes, but its fantastically to bright and clear and transparent. So no. Its got Delano 5 string singles with a Delano Sonar 2 band preamp. Ive got to be honest this setup maybe great for girls/guys who want play chords, harmonic stuff. For that it is amazing. But it aint me. the voicing is way to transparent and clean for my ears. Its the 60/70's Jazz bass tone with a lot of punch I'm after. Im not hugely knowledgeable about pickups, or preamps. I am aware of the Bartolini setup i had and i loved it on the Sei., i was actually thinking about putting some Fender single coils in it with a Bart or Sadowsky onboard. ? I want the Jazz bass tone with the oomph. I will start with DR's of course . If i could put it into 3 words. Fat/Warm/Clear i love the Marcus Miller tone. is he using Sadowsky preamp.? Not sure what pickups he's using.? any thoughts
I'm trying hard to raise my two on a diet of funk & soul. Craig Charles on a Saturday night is mandatory listening, and their current favourite for in the car is Wilson Pickett, with some Otis thrown in as well. The eldest has stated showing an interest in my basses as well, so I'll have to work on that too!
Good lad, thats a good musical diet. I hope your well Simon. -
Regardless of the pickup type, How on earth do they make 34" B string sound that good and focused. It has to be that HB in a certain position.?. I remember owning a single HB SR5 and the B string was just monstrously punchy. Not versatile imo, but it was very MM cool. It didn't feel like the B string was floppy either. The neck if you don't mind the spacing was the best 5 string there is. I do think sometimes even if you have a floppy B string, if the tone is very punchy, your fingers play softer so it doesn't feel as floppy. if that makes sense. The trade off is a Lakland 55-02.

There are not many band's i anticipate the new album of. Incognito are just fantastic, imo. The new album for 2016 is being recorded i believe. There is a reason I like a mix of funk and soul. A taster of the last album. I spoke to Bluey at the Jazz Cafe and he told me he doesn't know any notes on his guitar.?????????? , Bluey writes some fantastic music. He chooses the best musicians I've ever heard. His Vision is just…!!!! ... its coming soon.

Spector all day long. -
Was watching this whole dvd with a friend today. Raphael Saadiq live in Boston. Always blows me away. The guy on the keys at the end is very special. @ 7.50 minutes. No flashy bass from Raphael, just great song writing and groove. i just love the guitar over his bass playing.

no vibrato. Straight up beautiful voice and tone, her harmonies are just great . She reminds me of Karen Carpenter. -
I love Donny Hathaway, but none of his vocal tracks sound like they were recorded while he was standing on a washing machine on a spin cycle.
Ha ha.!! Excellent. -
Check out the video. Gospel Chops vol 1. Andrew Gouche is mind bending good at playing the electric bass. He really is something else.

Embrace her Vibrato. its her natural voice. Imo she has great power and control. everything i love about a great voice, That and tone. Is why i love Donny Hathawayso much. you like or you don't like that singing style i guess. i can hear what your saying, but tis a very small part of a great sum. would you complain if she was singing for your band.? -
Only my opinion of course. Most youtube listeners may know him as Mono Neon. But gospel lovers know him as Dwayne Thomas Jr. Im amazed this guy plays a Jazz Bass upside down but still strings it normally . he play's that KSD upside-down to amazing effect.. i guess he's used to it. great in the pocket bass playing. . what a fantastic bass player this guy is. His tribute to the Clarke's Sister record. Even Pino Palladino loves this guy.

i also like this from Ellie. Nothing quite like the days of Susan Vega etc, but i do love a lot of the new music women like Ellie is coming out with. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTTNWpag6fI -
Im forced to listen Radio 1 at work. There is a lot of sh*te. Maybe I'm getting old , but there are some gems, I couldn't be any more bored of Adele. if i hear another Adele record at work I'm going to do something very bad to the radio.. if they don't play Jess Glynn 2000 times a day i don't mind. Her voice for me is fantastic. For my ears she has a way better mature powerful voice than Adele. I really don't like the way people make a video of someone singing quite a powerful lyrical part, but in the vid there mouth looks like they are just talking. ? apart from that what a voice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ebfSItB0oM
