1. Check out the video. Gospel Chops vol 1. Andrew Gouche is mind bending good at playing the electric bass. He really is something else.
2. Embrace her Vibrato. its her natural voice. Imo she has great power and control. everything i love about a great voice, That and tone. Is why i love Donny Hathawayso much. you like or you don't like that singing style i guess. i can hear what your saying, but tis a very small part of a great sum. would you complain if she was singing for your band.?
3. Only my opinion of course. Most youtube listeners may know him as Mono Neon. But gospel lovers know him as Dwayne Thomas Jr. Im amazed this guy plays a Jazz Bass upside down but still strings it normally . he play's that KSD upside-down to amazing effect.. i guess he's used to it. great in the pocket bass playing. . what a fantastic bass player this guy is. His tribute to the Clarke's Sister record. Even Pino Palladino loves this guy.
4. i also like this from Ellie. Nothing quite like the days of Susan Vega etc, but i do love a lot of the new music women like Ellie is coming out with. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTTNWpag6fI
5. Im forced to listen Radio 1 at work. There is a lot of sh*te. Maybe I'm getting old , but there are some gems, I couldn't be any more bored of Adele. if i hear another Adele record at work I'm going to do something very bad to the radio.. if they don't play Jess Glynn 2000 times a day i don't mind. Her voice for me is fantastic. For my ears she has a way better mature powerful voice than Adele. I really don't like the way people make a video of someone singing quite a powerful lyrical part, but in the vid there mouth looks like they are just talking. ? apart from that what a voice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ebfSItB0oM
6.
A cool bass is whatever you think a cool bass is. Blue
its not complicated.
7. Lakland Skyline 55-01, or 55-02. Some say the perfect all rounder.
8. who couldn't love my best friends smile.
9. For me everything about this record is about the Chorus. I do wonder to my self how they got so much Soul in there playing ,coming from Scotland and all. When i listen to there albums its like they have the soul maturity of EWF and many great American bands. I proposed to my wife with this record. . It was a great moment. I did thank her for her smile. She was in tears bless her heart.
10. Remember when i said they are not Earth Wind and Fire.? I always find some AWB records that i haven't heard for ages. IMO this is such a fantastic record.!!!! , with an obvious Earth Wind and Fire influence. do i care.. nope. Music like this makes my day better. 11. sh*t.! if only this had one string more.!
12. Some might say you can't buy time. But if the music you play on it is great, I'm all ears.
13. That very sad to hear. One of the great personalities on my TV for many years.
14. What a band they are. New Yorks finest. This music and the harmonies are just amazing. Easily in my top 5 albums of all time. i could listen to music like this all day long. Its called This Journey In. And its an absolute Gem in my collection of CD's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-Wm56cUFB0
15.
Bubinga5, I think you will really like these guys: https://www.soundclo...hildren-of-zeus
You weren't wrong. I do love this and my sister mentioned them to me a while back. That rhythm section is very different.
16. Amazing instruments. and i thought Lakland SkyLines were good. Adrians basses are in a different league.
17. Elwood
18. 17 years I've been playing and Im 40 years old and still I'm not that lazy.
19. Wow David. Where do you get them from.!!!??? Am i right in saying that is a Fender Custom Shop 1975 RI Jazz Bass in Dakota Red. Never ever seen one before. especially in that colour with a matching headstock. any pics of the back of the headstock .? i will take my offer back i can't afford it.
20. Surely you play what the music needs you to play.
21.
Great band, love all the albums (except Cupids In Fashion!). They all just get better the more you live with them. The track, 'Watcha Gonna Do For Me?' was recorded by AWB first, and is actually a Hamish Stuart co - write. Good call, it's a corker.
Am i wrong Spongebob.? it won't be the first time.
22. AWB Jazz Funk at its best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXKLLzPDIfo
23. This is so great. There cover of Chaka Khan's "Watcha Gonna Do for Me". a laid back cover. More fantastic subtle bass playing. They are soul they are funk.
24.
Alan Gorrie playing a 5-string with the " Live from Daryl's House " house band ; ( when he points to his head he is indicating to the rest of the band that the tune goes back to the " head " ie top of the chart )
That is great. i love Daryl's house. Ceelo and Daryl do a great Hall and Oats live session.
