1. ha ha. sorry. i did laugh to Japan Axe's post on my own behalf . the classic is a 2-5-1 progression. its so great if you have a good hear to play around.
2. not sure what you mean. Gospel. ?
3. yeah love the tone. the only thing i can fault him on the staccato is a little to staccato sometimes.. but who the f*** am i.
4. Is Abraham a Gospel player.? I'm not sure. For me, the best Urban Gospel Band ever.. New Direction.. can't remember the bassist's name but his playing is supreme. there first album is a gospel bassist lovers dream. the bass playing is out there. 5. Just dig this guys playing, how/why? all sorts of questions. Bottom line is, his playing is so so good. first seen this guy on Gospel Chops, VOL 1. just love some of his fills. dare i say it better than Chuck's.? seems like he thumbs down below, then makes the jump up to the octave for the slap part. like my Dad would say about musician's techniques. "Son, its unorthadox, but it bloody work's". .
6. Neo Soul incorporates other genres, such as hip hop/funk/groove. not your typical Anita Baker/Marvin Gaye. i think that what sets it apart. the term, was made up name by a guy called Kedar Massenburg. its just another shade of soul, and a progression i guess. but actually means the below. i find the genres get more and more blurred everyday. like the meaning of the dictionary term Neo " Combining Forms". Acid Jazz is just Pop Jazz Funk.
7. Lay-Far and Pete Simpson. i love this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iblpla0p82E&feature=youtu.be
8. fantastic records both of those.... i love Big Daddy Kane on this. Chali2na brings up the rear, dare i say it as BDK is an old school master, Chali absolutely smokes Big Daddy Kane..
9. very cool Si. love his stuff with Ozomatli. this is great. anything he raps on sounds good. his tone has a wow factor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=169nazrTiDw
10. I've always loved the funky feel from J5. imo, I've heard them all, Rakim, Eminem,Big Daddy K, this guy has the best rapping delivery ever. Chali 2na is supreme. i met him in birmingham last year and he was such a nice person. what a voice tone, what a funky rapper.
11. there are so many nuances Roland. yes the drumming.!!! you couldn't not stick with the drummer and leave him all alone. hold it back and sit with him.
12. this is just so good. so much space in the music for fills. but i love George's lack of fills in this record. sometimes its not what you play that is special. and Joseph's drumming. !
13. this is fabulous,. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aRC3YY3svs

18. i love this groove. , it just gets better and better. everything is good with the rhythm section on this record. love the amazing horns/sax, to the slap bass, to the guitar solo. music from Super Funky Sax. 19. that is a bargain for the 96. it was once mine, and the tone is very cool. with the retro its a 70's jazz bass monster.!!!
