  1. Ive never looked down on instrument brands. All i care about is the music. Im aware that your more likely to get a better bass the more you spend. Glad you found a great one buddy.
  2. I would pay £5000 + for an instrument if i could afford it. But to make great music and have a great sounded and feeling bass, a grand and below will get you one. Easily.... especially second hand. I have a £400 Squire Jazz and it is one of the best jazz basses ive ever played or heard and ive had a lot of high end jazz basses. i think the budget bass manufacturers market have it sorted.
  3. I used to get it. Now just own 2 basses that I know are going to give me the best results.
  4. if you can mate wait. Its not worth dropping it more. Its probably the best 5 string jazz on BC atm
  5. Marc (imo) is one great musical artist. Loves his house . I met him once and he is just the funniest person. Incredibly talented
  6. The bass line from Gene Perez on this is just utterly fantastic and as he has said in an interview was totally improvised..... Louis B shows it how house music should be done. Depends on the house music of course.
  7. OOh begeez that simple funky bassline.
  8. When I hear fantastic music, like it or not its great to share.
  9. They have one tone if its a single H. That is all. Like P basses, they have one tone. Thats why J basses work so well. They are a a J and P. Knowone in the audience is going to know your playing a J bass if you roll the front pickup on. It sounds like a P Its more the player. From my experience the P Bass makes you slow down your playing because of the neck . Sr4/5 s have THAT tone. Its fat.... its got its own thing going on. I personally loved my old SR5 single H. It had its tone, but what a tone it had. Stunning bass. Would i take it over the Lakland 5502, not even close the Lakland is probably the best designed bass guitar on the planet.
  10. Ive been totally out schooled. Thanks you for schooling me
  11. There is a quad coil. Its called 2 hum cancelling jazzbass pickups stuck together.its like calling a chicken a fancy duck.
  12. WOW ive seen some stinky poo reviews before but these guys are literally on drugs. What are they talking about.? 4 coil Lakland MM pickup. I want one. That guy on the right is either drunk or has just taken a hit from a bottle bag of skunk.
  13. For me being there is nowhere near enough new music recommendations on BC.Should be another section for it....Love this. Anyways this is cool as always its Mr Harris, so you know what your getting. Anyone know who his bass bass player is. Im thinking its Adam Wiles.?
  14. This is going to be controversial but Ive yet to play a bass thats made in the UK that has blown me away like a lot of USA/Made in Japan basses do. Tone wise I mean. Not sure why. The GB Spitfire left me cold like a wet fish tone wise.I actually thought it was awful.. The US Lakland 55 that replaced it was like day and night, as soon as I picked the Lakland up it felt alive. Sei Jazz was wonderfully made but too polite sounding. of course this is only two examples. Would love to try a Shuker. But most UK basses seem to be a bit too CUSTOM. Off the shelf made in the UK all round fantastic basses are a bit thin on the ground.
  15. Do i need to pay export duty on a bass i want to send to Croatia.?
  16. As the title says. You guys have any experience with them. Pros cons etc. Best/Worst. ? Thanks for any info
