1. Is Abraham a Gospel player.? I'm not sure. For me, the best Urban Gospel Band ever.. New Direction.. can't remember the bassist's name but his playing is supreme. there first album is a gospel bassist lovers dream. the bass playing is out there. 2. Just dig this guys playing, how/why? all sorts of questions. Bottom line is, his playing is so so good. first seen this guy on Gospel Chops, VOL 1. just love some of his fills. dare i say it better than Chuck's.? seems like he thumbs down below, then makes the jump up to the octave for the slap part. like my Dad would say about musician's techniques. "Son, its unorthadox, but it bloody work's". .
3. Neo Soul incorporates other genres, such as hip hop/funk/groove. not your typical Anita Baker/Marvin Gaye. i think that what sets it apart. the term, was made up name by a guy called Kedar Massenburg. its just another shade of soul, and a progression i guess. but actually means the below. i find the genres get more and more blurred everyday. like the meaning of the dictionary term Neo " Combining Forms". Acid Jazz is just Pop Jazz Funk.
4. Lay-Far and Pete Simpson. i love this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iblpla0p82E&feature=youtu.be
5. fantastic records both of those.... i love Big Daddy Kane on this. Chali2na brings up the rear, dare i say it as BDK is an old school master, Chali absolutely smokes Big Daddy Kane..
6. very cool Si. love his stuff with Ozomatli. this is great. anything he raps on sounds good. his tone has a wow factor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=169nazrTiDw
7. I've always loved the funky feel from J5. imo, I've heard them all, Rakim, Eminem,Big Daddy K, this guy has the best rapping delivery ever. Chali 2na is supreme. i met him in birmingham last year and he was such a nice person. what a voice tone, what a funky rapper.
8. there are so many nuances Roland. yes the drumming.!!! you couldn't not stick with the drummer and leave him all alone. hold it back and sit with him.
9. this is just so good. so much space in the music for fills. but i love George's lack of fills in this record. sometimes its not what you play that is special. and Joseph's drumming. !
10. this is fabulous,. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aRC3YY3svs

19. that is a bargain for the 96. it was once mine, and the tone is very cool. with the retro its a 70's jazz bass monster.!!!
20. Its a Fender USA LTD edition 5 string Jazz with flame maple top, gold tuners etc, string through body.. its an absolute beauty, but I'm not sure its Lakland playability.
21. thanks for the opinions guys. ,i would like the bass, but I'm worried about that B string.
22.
What difference does it being difficult to come by make? In my experience limited edition instruments tend to hold their value less than standard ones.
yes but do you think this Fender is worth £1200
23. just wanted you guys/girls opinion on this. I'm a believer but apparently this bass was given to this guy by David Gilmore. as you may know i posted a thread asking opinions on if i should trade a Lakland 55-02 with a Fender. just want some input. the Bass is a Ltd 50th anniversary flame maple 5 string Fender jazz bass. i said i would never get another Fender, but I'm thinking twice about this one. not because of the Gilmore affiliation, but because these are very difficult to come by. but i do wonder. I'm sorry Patrick if you are on BassChat but these are my brothers/sisters, and to them i come for advice. this is the message he sent me. quote. No problems if we can negotiate a deal we are both happy with that would be great.I was given the bass by David Gilmour who produced 3 albums for a band I was in called Unicorn,he also covered one of our songs (There's No Way Out Of Here) on his first solo album. He was given one of each of the 50th Anniversary models. He gave me the Jazz 5 string for delivering his old Mercedes down to Cornwall and going back a week later to pick it up.He was flying himself down and back but wanted his car while down there..I'm valuing the Jazz at around £1200 but I'm willing to negotiate.Let me know your thoughts Andrew.
24. reached the pinnacle of bass playing, hell no. have we reached the pinnacle of bass making.. YEP.
