1. i always thought its best to concentrate on playing from the B string. don't treat it like a 4 string with an extra string. really get to know all those notes on the B string.
2. ha ha ha ha. ! that made me laugh out loud. .i love them little furry mothers.
3. I didn't take it that way Kevin at all. thanks girls/guys. let this episode drift away like a bad Bross record.
4. i posted a thread about Roberto Salomone and his playalong. . and probably came across as a pompous twat with my over bearing views on how a bass line should be played. in real life I'm not said pompous twat, i was just having a bad morning. i wouldn't like any of you girls/guys to think i was, said pompous twat. he's a great bass player, but I'm a stickler for an Incognito bassline. and i still think he over plays, but i should have looked a bit deeper. i value everyones opinion on BC, and do learn a lot from you guys anyways. Have a great weekend.
5.
This one The original post was fine from a critique of the style. When it just gets to be highlighting someones timing issues it saddens me.
jeez. is it that bad to call someones timing.? i can't see a problem. i could take it on the chin if my timing is out. i haven't offended his family bud.
6. This is old but it is very cool. Raphael Sadidiq on a P Bass magic. the singer on keys at the end is just something else.
7.
This more my kind of thing with regards to funky, 16th note machine gunning! Ass kicking, exciting. The song, not just the bass playing!
that is very cool.! Maceo Parker on sax. nice one Lord Sausage. made my afternoon.
8. his 16th note machine gun still doesn't sit right with me.
9. let me start again. sorry about my post. wasn't what i intended LS. as for my OP. i was talking about a guy in with the best intentions. its ok to have an opinion about someone, without it the dreaded "criticise" word coming into it.
10. i get bored of country and western. doesn't mean i can't find something inspirational about the music with new artists.. that attitude says more about the person than the music.
11.
So, excuse my ignorance here, is the guy NOT just doing a play along then?
looks like he's doing a playalong.
12. which post made you feel uncomfortable and sad,? anyways no probs buddy.
13. just for reference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTZg-dTUrV0
14. im a little surprised that know one can hear the drumming and where he places his first notes. never mind. i guess his busy bass lines are not to my taste. it would be boring if we all liked the same thing.
15. can anyone recommend any other band in this vein? Metalica.? I'm aware of Body Count, but I'm a little lost apart from that.
16.
You should record a battle video of you doing the song post it to Youtube and show him who is boss.
it was just an observation. maybe save the sarcasm for some other chump... i was just pointing out some something that Thurbs might not have heard. maybe i should have worded it better.
17.
I think it is spot on. Matches the songs grove perfectly.
not so spot on when he's hitting the right note but on on the wrong time/drums at the start. intricate bass playing over a Key's solo.? its too much. give other musicians some space. he's not listening to the drummer either in parts. just my OP
18. Its difficult for me to knock anyones playing, and i post with the best intentions , especially when someone is so technically proficiant as this guy. but its worth posting i think, and I'm sure other bassists will recognise this. Im in no way the oracle when it comes to playing, but i know good playing when i hear it. i heard this blind, thinking it was Francis Hylton. and thought blimey, he's throwing those notes in there. his timing is off, but realised it wasn't Francis. i think this is a good example, of why you should be a little more laid back and put in the fills when the music calls for it. its only my opinion and the guy is a great player in certain aspects.. but the balance between musical knowledge/technique/taste, is sometimes the hardest to master. its like me playing Reggae, god awful. 19.
Shame Mustaine felt the need to do a horrible remastering job on it:
ooh er. didn't like that too much.
20. I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to Metal. but i really dig this track from Rust in Peace that a friend lent me. think its time i listened to a bit more. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de-xO3pUEd0
21. This is USA Fender back pickup cover. good condition apart from a few scratches. but still looks good. To be honest I'm not really sure what these are worth. So take my price with a pinch of salt. or make me an offer.
22. thank you Spyder. your quite a distance from me though. but much appreciated.. what are the 5 string necks like.?
23. Love the record, love the bass playing. Making great use of that B string. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcflT1yb1To
24. I'm getting major GAS for one of these. this is a stunner.
