1. i have no idea how to pronounce the name, but does anyone have any experience with these basses. especially the Jazz basses. I've noticed them for years now and they have some really nice finishes. but just wondering how they play. There not hugely expensive, but seem to have top notch pickups, preamps etc. any ideas.?
2. The early TRB 6 is a fantastic bass. quite amazing what you can get them for now if you can find one..
3. A fantastic vocalist from Incognito fame. seen this guy sing many times, such a great album this is..
4. I can't for the life of me remember his name.? Quite famous now. any ideas.

7. i have an Aguilar 500 sc. Im would like something more lightweight. I'm really not an expert on Amp's. first I'm wondering what its worth, and what i might get in replacement for it. maybe with some cash my way. i do love the sound i get from this Amp, so sound wise I'm maybe looking for something like this.
8.
I used to have one fitted to a Squire VMF Jazz. It's OK I supposed but it didn't really do anything that I couldn't already do with the tone controls on my BassPod. Also fitting it required routing out another couple of mm from the depth of the control cavity and then having to re-shield everything. IMO too much hassle for no appreciable gain, but then I'd have probably said the same about any of the similar pre-amps available for the J-Bass. I personally can't see the point of fitting something in your bass that doesn't really do anything more than you should already be able to do elsewhere in your signal chain.
i tend to agree with BRX. an external preamp is a better, cleaner, less hassle option. i have fitted 3 J retros, and i had battery fitting issues, grounding issues, lots of buzzing. they are fantastic preamps, but after a while the hassles involved over take the pro's. keep your instrument original, maybe get a Sadowsky, or an Aguilar external preamp and save yourself the bother.or a Bass Pod.
9. sorry to over post on your thread Stance but this is interesting. can't say I'm a fan of that brittle SR tone he's got going on but, i don't care when he starts playing. anyone notice the sounds that come out of him when he's slapping.? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQkjDxHvaXc
10. Love Louis Johnson.. his playing/technique was always super clean. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CN6o5i_QZ_o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgsJLGQTfEE
11. his latest stuff with 3rd Eyed Girl is great.
12. i can't deny I'm such a fan of this master musician. been listening to a lot of stuff, that was never that popular at the time of release. but in my opinion, it was some of his best.. very tricky to find stuff on YT, for his personal reasons of course. but these tracks just blow me away. there are so many more. he doesn't always hit the mark,it must be very difficult over so many years to be consistent .. But when he does, its quite a record. ,I'm amazed at how many songs he has written. a couple of older B Side masterpieces. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQvPk0L6gGI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekcc2L9E_hc
13.
Wow! What a mix. Love Shep Pettibone but not heard that before, great find
yep.

17.
Your location doesn't look too promising from a postage point of view.
i dont see another option.. unless you wanted to meet him halfway.?
18. this is just.. amazing unique playing by Jeff with Marcus Miller and the band. totally smoking stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwgOUzodS6E
19. this is just slick...fantastic music
20. does anyone think there are too many variables for anyone to make a solid judgment.? even pickups with the same bass, or even body wood density. i could be wrong. i do know pickup winds have a huge effect on the way a bass sounds. i also think the lacquer on a neck (front and back) on a 70's jazz bass, has more of a difference to tone, than the difference between the un lacquered maple neck and its rosewood counterpart. i appreciate the views and ears of other members and the OP.. but as always, I'm all ears.
21. Great Maceo Parker track. amazing bass playing on this track. the full documentary. a friend sent me the DVD, just incredible music.
