1.
Hmmmm. I'm sure there will be dozens of equally good bassists on youtube playing this and more technical pieces with as much/more feeling but you chose this because?
good god why is it when you post a woman playing bass there must an agenda behind it. i posted it purely on her playing. I'm sure there are many better bassists out there.. i just happen to like her playing.
2. the track could be louder in her mix but man she can play. wonderful bass playing.
3.
Its not really about the voice though is it.... They are listening trying to work out how attractive the singer is by the sound of their voice. After the first round it's basically xfactor.
its a load of sh*t.. there i said it..
4.
Truly awful song, but they have written some really cool rock tracks so I just skip it when it comes on. Excellent album production for the genre.
not sure if it is a truly awful song. thats a bit strong, but its very pop.
5. hands down the best looking Alembic ever.
6. i heard this today and thought it was really great. really brightened up my day.
7. great great bassline. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcPGfd3OPkk
8.
I think he ran out of ideas now Lakland have his already stolen from Musicman one! I dont mind it, wouldn't stop me buying one same goes for the Alleva 'paddle', sometimes they look much better in the flesh?
with all respect Pete, imo there aren't so many avenues that a bass builder can take to make the perfect headstock. just so happens that Fender and Music Man make great headstocks, that work very well. imo they invented the perfect ones especially the 4 top one underneath 5 string. why make a wheel that is the same as the rest of the wheels and then get criticised because you do so. the best way to look at any design in that respect, is maybe not "stolen" but perhaps respectfully used and embellished on. change in electric bass is overrated imo. i think good basic design was established many years ago with bass. when did you ever see double basses change in design.?? instruments are instruments of the music that change around them. just saying.
9. Not a color i would choose but its still cool. i quite like the headstock.its looks to me like a very early P Bass headstock. but i agree Dan should have thought out that Basses font a little more, very generic, i got this from a graphic designers font book.. . would like to hear an in-depth review of this bass for sure.
10. thanks for all the suggestions guys.
11. bloody metronomes. . its like a boring office job when you go and play/practice the bass.! playing or practicing the bass should be and always should be a musical experience, with sounds to inspire you. great if you want to play endless scales and muscle memory, but why. throw it in the bin. there are so many more avenues to practice timing than that.
12.
IMO his playing reached a creative high point on the Abbey Road album. Here's 'something' to get you started:
fantastic record.. i was thinking something more upbeat.
13. Can anyone recommend me some records that Paul really plays around the chords. I've heard some in the past but I'm not really a Beatles fan so I'm not in the know. a drummer friend of mine says he was a real James Jamerson fan.. any tracks i might want to listen to.?
14.
Just another Fender copy. What's the big deal?
i guess regardless of your opinion on Fender copies. playing one, might answer your question. ?
15. such a great bass line to play. always goes down well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYKYka-PNt0
16. i like the slight floppiness that the Fat Beams have because of the round core., ,nice and loose and with a well set up bass you can get some great growl. but the Low Riders have a hexagonal core which makes them much tighter. a super low action you can get...but I'm definitely a Fat Beam man. imo they are in a different league to any other company, when it comes to electric bass strings.
17. DR Fat Beams imo are the sh*t Jose. DR's are expensive but i love them, and they last for a long long time. best electric bass string in the world imo. just put a set on a Lakland 55-02 and its great. Bass string royalty is them DR's. Low Riders are nice also. For Flats La Bella Deep Talking are really great.
18. this is a Fender CIJ Non Export 62 Jazz. custom shop Fender pups depending on the year, or just the great Fender USA pups. Fender CIJ or MIJ never made a jazz bass in butterscotch, unless ordered as a custom order from Japan, and if so, its imported, and is very very rare.. this is an off white cream 62 RI non export Jazz bass without doubt. although i recently lost love for Fender these NON exports are great.
19. always diggin there stuff. not sure how much Uriah Duffy plays on them.Killer amalgamation.
20. i used to know this guy who always listened to music really loud. i never could see or hear why.
