4. I'm only a phone call away Pete.
5. don't like that at all. it actually hurts my ears.. wouldn't like to pre judge it on the rest of his new recordings though.. I've always judged him like Prince, always the experimentalist.
6.
Yes, great loss He was classically trained and apparently always felt that he sold out with his recordings. Sad he may not have realised just how good he was. He was at school with Roberta Flack too and did some great work with her.
yeah i heard that.. my mums favourite singer was Roberta. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcWFOIhY9eM

11.
Maybe you need to stop obsessing about trying to find a perfect solution and simply enjoy playing what you do have access to.
Spot On..!!
12. Listen a lot… Practice a lot.. keep it simple and practice slow to get a clean technique.
13.

great stuff Leonard..!!!
14. Very sad to think with all the amazing happy music he made, he ended up committing suicide from severe depression. very powerful thing the mind..
15.
His live album with Willie Weeks on bass is fantastic - and one of the best bass solos ever (IMHO)
its possibly mine and many others favourite bass lines.. Little Ghetto Boy imo is some of the best playing I've heard ever. Willie is playing on the previous record also i believe.
16. Just a scratch on the surface of Donny's music. who knows what music he might have gone on to write. i love this record. i always encourage people who haven't heard Donny Hathaway, to have a listen. his voice is perfection imo..

18. Looking to get a multi effects unit. Really looking for a good octave sound, reverb etc.. to be honest I don't know much about effects, pedals etc.. i used to own a Korg ax3000b, but never really got to know it and eventually sold it. you know the feeling you don't actually know what you want, but you want to try something.. really interested in the octave sound… don't really want different pedals as it might be a xmas present so would be nice to have a multi effects unit.. maybe I'm wrong and i would be better off buying single pedals.? any suggestions or opinions are welcome..
19.
That whole episode of Classic Albums is great. Pops up on Sky Arts every now and then. In terms of 'deconstructing' a Stevie song I always get a kick out of listening to some of the parts from Superstition : http://homerecording...uperstition.htm
i love them Barrie. always a good watch.
20. as early as… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBA4vWQRBA0
21. ok, its not got strings, but its still an epic bass line he plays on this record. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84s_rq-6K2k
22. I've never heard of him playing bass, surely he's picked up a bass over the years though. i would seriously pay to see that.
23. Fascinating short doc on this great record from a phenomenal album. love it when Nate starts playing at 3.40. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUAPyngJhak
