1. don't want to hear just roots notes. unless the the rest of the music doesn't need some sort of bass note discovery, but in some way or the other.surely, even the most basic of bassists might want to try something else.? leading notes.?
2. My old Modulus VJ4. stunning bass.
3. WOW. you don't see many 66er's in orange.
4. ahh ok. i can see why now.
5. i think nostalgia is alive and well.
6. you really have to watch it with some Fender Japan, they are good, but not USA Fender like the non export. for the same money second hand you can get a USA for the same cash. i got a fender USA Jazz 5 on top tuners for £490.00. the question is whats your budget.? go USA if you can find one.
7. i used to love walking into HMV and listening to music on there in house headphones, and discovering new music. but like FlyFisher, i can do that from my computer now. anything is at my fingertips. i still look back to it and enjoyed it though. sitting on my sofa and getting things easy, is not quite the same as flicking through a shelf full of cd's. its just not the same.
8. why.?is it because its only once a month.? only my opinion, but that can't be healthy musical production. you must be knackered, and so must the guys your playing with. i don't practice that much on piano in a week. surely less is more.
9. love Faith no More. this was from a favourite album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAUXPkx7gMI
10. buy a Japanese Fender. you will never look back.

12.
I think the funkiest album is probably 100 degrees and rising. Features Randy Hope-Taylor and my personal favourite Julian Crampton. If you want to check out more Julian Crampton funkiness then I strongly recommend Joey Negro and the Sunburst band.
my 2 favourite bassists. Julian also plays with Down to the Bone. side tracking here but there new album is great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cosk2J24V6g&list=RDcosk2J24V6g#t=49
13. i agree with his comment, travelling can really open your mind as a musician. the full vid of him and other's playing Stevie Wonder's, isn't she lovely. this is just fantastic.
14. . thing is Incognito don't do just instrumental albums. there first album is closest to what you might like. 'Jazz Funk'.. but picked out a couple of great instrumentals that might fit your bill. this is EPIC.! the bass playing is out there. 15.
You're picking some corkers today! Another great band . . . and another great player (Duane Allman) lost far too early.
yes that was a huge shame. that guy was a talent.
16. does anyone find that a P bass can lack definition. i guess it depends on your amplification. i find a jazz can do it a little better. also i reckon the jazz tone has more character. only mine.
17. sorry to mega post but this is sooooooooo good. live at Fiilmore East is fantastic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCRS4DRmf_w
18. I'm always gonna look up to people on BassChat. i really appreciate the thoughts. thanks Dad3353. well no its not my thing. but i would like to have a go. the drummer knows my funk reputation.
19.
Yes. This!
his voice is flawless.!!
20.
Another Creedence track that you don't hear very often; I love this one.
that is so good.!!
21.
Why should we not get you started on Steely Dan?
because i will bore you to death. imo they are the cleverest band to ever write music.
22. i love America, had an affair with the Allman Brother's. don't get me started on Steely Dan. but i love this band.
23. that is slick.. up to the top you go.
24. might be awkward for me to say "hey guys , I'm new but lets tighten up the rhythm section" and hey your vocals could do with some polishing. I'm not really after a few pints at a gig.. and i don't want to come across as snobbish, but i would like to play bass to make the music a little better. I've known the drummer for years and he knows my playing. its very different to the previous guy. I'm no Pino Palladino, but i don't think that style of, less is more approach would go a miss. imo the previous bassist is putting in his fills in the wrong place and too often. only my opinion or maybe the endless slap might work. yeah they would love that.!
25. thank you for your opinion. well they have asked me to play bass for them.its not really my thing but i always like to play with other musicians. but i agree, the rhythm section section needs holding down and being more uniformed, i think maybe is what skittish means.?
