1. NOT NE MORE.!! its only one bloody track. yes bought the album.!!!
2. Mr Kabas is always good imo bar one vid.. i disagree about the slapping. very tastefully done. can't see a problem with it at all, if anything, it adds a bit of bite to the groove. great vid thanks for posting MudPup. i really do think sometimes some people have an inherent hatred of slap bass, and can't seem to distinguish bad slap from good slap, but its all subjective of course.
3. Great album's stay with you, make you feel good, make you want to dance, make you feel emotional, make you think. this album does all of those things they only made one album, before Carleen did her own thing. No doubt Road to Freedom is in my top 10. a great mix of hip hop, soul and funk. the harmonies are just fantastic. very special music in my opinion. I've listen to this album so many times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ky45KVdYdzc
4. Yeah i like Atlantic Star's original. but i think Bluey has done it better. I'm not a fan boy but he rarely gets it wrong imo. i presume you didn't mean to give us a link to that.?
5. this is a great great record. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dPanYyzIKk
6.
We're off to interview Francis Hylton in a couple of weeks time.. ;-)
very cool. i spoke to him at a gig and he was the nicest person. just very friendly and has all the time in the world to talk to you.
7. sure is good. Going to see them in July.
8. i always thought she was a superb talent. Beautiful woman also. great on a Les Paul.
9. this is something very special from Shuya Okino. this is very cool also. when she starts singing. just WOW. groove central. http ://www.youtube....h?v=tyCWKP-MnX8
10.
of course, seeing as we're all jazzfunkateers at heart, maybe we should give a shout out to James Mason too and for any of the tracks on the Rhythm of Life LP
thats one of the best jazz funk records ever written in my opinion. James Mason is a master of this genre.. on of my favourite
11. another classic that was covered by the SunBurst Band with Joey Negro, with Julian Crampton on bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bbVXSl91iY
12. yeah its a cracker Geoff. Don Blackman plays piano on a lot of it. he might even have played on this record.
13. I love this album. its astounding to think he was 19 when he recorded it. Smokin music from one of the great keyboard/piano players of the late 70's early 80's. Bernard's playing on the rest of the album is incredible. arranged by Bernard Wright. I'm not sure of the bassist on this record, but it was either Marcus Miller or Barry Johnson. I've a hunch it was Barry Johnson, just doesn't sound like Marcus's style to me, but i could be wrong. .
14.
I think that's exactly the point for me Andrew. He's just doing what a bass player is supposed to do and doing it superbly. What was that old saying about less is more? P.S. I was referring to 'I'm a Man' and NOT 'If You Leave Me Now' which i loathe!
sorry Geoff. i edited my post.
15. i can't see the astounding bit, but yes, he's on the money with the groove.. the drummer is fantastic. do love Chicago. by the way dad3353 that is a fabulous record.
16. a totally outrageous record from Bill and this band.. amazing playing from all. great bass playing from Snarky's Michael League. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia9PLzX1RUM
17. Just thought i would share this guy. he is a superb piano player, arranger. i just think he's excellent. check him out on Facebook JD73 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w62EICN4Qz4
18. best to let some music speak maybe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhAK_ediox4
19. There is something about this band that i so dig. Johnnie Wilder is awesome. I'm not sure Rod Temperton played keys on this funk classic. cracking record all the same. http://www.youtube....h?v=pKjkwpgKMd8
20. thats very cool RoRi. a funk nail on a groove head boy.
21.
Hey Bubinga - have you seen the stuff from Montreux where she has David Dyson on bass? There's some serious groove going on there I can tell ya!
Yeah for sure Japhet, I've seen bits. what i have seen is awesome. and David is a magician on the bass. feel free to post something i might not have seen though.
22.
Thats great,...does anyone know what bass is she playing ?
its either a Japanese 75 reissue or an original 1970's jazz bass. but she's i known to love the CIJ/MIJ Fenders. i would edge a bet and say it was a Japanese 75. could be wrong. I'm digging that Ibanez ATK 5 that her back up man is playing also.
23. Crackin vid from this amazing musician. wait for her playing at 3.10 onwards. such a musical person she is. Peace Beyond Passion will always be one of the best albums I've ever listened to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ2w_cW55Pc
