1. i think i posted this before in one of my heavy nights. but f*** it, I'm sure some people will still appreciate it. this guys drumming is just fantastic in my opinion. it must be a joy to play bass along to his drumming. the music is great also.. Rasmus Faber on vocals.. the PB Underground if anyone is interested. the great Matt cooper of Incognito fame on piano. his drumming at the end is very very good... 2.
Rap is just a vocal style. Hip Hop is a genre of music in which rap is commonly featured. You can have rap without the song being hip-hop (see: John Barnes' legendary rap in World In Motion)
thankyou for correcting me. you are very astute in your correction of what i said.

 4.
Love this stuff. Here's one of my faves - Q-Tip with J Dilla on sampling duties
Damn! that is very cool. love it.
 5. one of the best things in my life are The Herbaliser. this is the real sh*t.!!! it really is the sh*t.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_abfF3m5cms
 6. that Kid Frost track is very cool buddy.
 7. Digital Underground you say Ro Ri. great stuff bro. they were an amazing hip hop act. now were talking. if you wanna go old school lets go X Clan. Sampled from Roy Ayers's track Red Black and Green. 'Raise the Flag' from the X Clan.
 8. hip hop is not a way of life for me, but i can hear why it is for some. a moron compared to Chris Hitchens, but still a GREAT clever rapper
 9. I've heard of them Ro Ri, and they are very cool, but its not really my bag. this is though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2MKMsK4BYU

 12.
I have only one hiphop record which I still like and play occasionally: I've gotta admit I'm attracted to the spooky atmospheres and loops rather than the lyrics
Spoombung that is without doubt. my favourite hiphop record ever recorded. !!! this track is in mine and lots of old school hip hop friends of mine, the holy grail of funk hip hop. i too love the spooky atmospheric feel to this record. but i really dig the groove, and the epic way that Rakim spits those lyrics. he's a real master at that style. its a seminal hip hop album in my opinion. this is no doubt the sh*t.!

 15. Cyprus Hill.. nahh they were just lightweights.
 16.
I always loved this band too, lot's of crossing over here:
not so much crossing as you might think. Galliano had some great rappers over the years. and they did cross over from soul funk to Hip Hop.
 17. i understand the thoughts towards smooth jazz,(please no lift music gags, I've got the t shirt and the socks) and she does play smooth jazz, but she also comes out with records like this, and i think it is amazing. her guitar playing at 1.38 is just fantastic. 18.
Ah, Jurassic5, A Day At The Races, class. And nobody's mentioned De La Soul yet! 19.
Ah, Jurassic5, A Day At The Races, class. And nobody's mentioned De La Soul yet!
for sure Day at the Races is a favourite of mine. and one of my favourite rapper's Big Daddy Kane. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VuVGmY14go
 20.
I like some of it but get a bit confused as to where the boundaries are between hip hop and rap etc, but I suppose if you like something, then its good, right?
i don't think there are any boundaries. in my experience Rap is Hip Hiop, just a different word for the same genre.
 21. When i was very young i loved hip hop. still do. its part of myself. i recognised that most of it didn't have the musical arrangements of the other soul music i was listening to. like comparing Stevie Wonder to Public Enemy. but i still had a thing for Hip Hop. and i don't know why although this is subjective, like anything creative, i was drawn to a certain type of HipHop. the funky kind. Usually it was west coast, with early NWA, but then with New York GangStarr, who to this day for me are the finest hiphop act to ever record this genre. but then i hear the X Clan. Mos Def, Jurassic 5, The Herbaliser just great smoker's hip hop..The Pharcyde The Roots are just epic. anyway, when the chips are down, and i want to listen to some proper stuff. this is the sh*t. imo. DO YOU LOVE HIP HOP.? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGpvI9vN9qU
 22. WOW. i remember Marcus Mlller playing a 57 live on a vid, and it sounded so cool.
