1. you have just posted a very favourite band of mine LowDown. especially the Live In Reykjavik vid. Johann Asmundsson is possibly one of the best bass players alive. in my opinion. always been in awe of his playing. he's so funky but he plays the most complex stuff. . since i bought Monkey Fields many years ago I've loved this band. when the drummer plays the bass with his sticks, and Johann frets a note or two, just a very cool. you don't see this very often. these guys are just so talented in my opinion. super tight stuff from some real masters. notice a certain percussionist from Incognito. 2. well i will wait for Dingus to say, until then i must of missed that.
3. who give a sh*t about his nails.? oh I'm on BassChat i forgot.
4. no doubt this is why i love fusion.. some masters at work. i adore the drumming on this record.!!
5. I'm sure this has been posted before, but i don't care. for me this is such an awesome track. check out some other stuff they have recorded. Jimmy Haslip on bass.
6. no doubt. that guy has his musical knowledge down. this is very cool. no flash just amazing bass playing. some of his fills are just off the wall https://www.youtube....h?v=Lrle0x_DHBM
7.
She was a true virtuoso, an incredible talent. I cannot help but think, though, that Victor Wooten could do a better solo version with his double thump /palm mute technique. Maybe Steve Bailey could play six string fretless on top of that and make it even better.
your kidding me right.? i dig your opinion most of the time Dingus. but in my opinion, , you are way off the mark. sorry. this is, what it is. although bass is what we love, some music should not be touched.. i couldn't think of anything worse than Victor Wooten double thumbing through this piece of music?. and Steve Bailey on a fretless. i would rather take a sh*t on a Rembrant. I'm not being snotty, but i think electric bass doesn't work for everything.
8. good call Ambient. phenomenal talent, and a joy to listen to. she's got such an intensity to her playing, and it really shows physically.
9. am i the only one who doesn't like graphite necked basses. are Zons any different.? i had a Modulus Jazz, it was the best feeling bass i have ever played, but tone wise, it was not to my taste. no character in the tone at all.
10. like the title says. a mate is asking.
11. apart from LowDown. is everyone missing my point.? the difference between the two vids..?

13.
Claudio Zoli 'Eva'
now thats what I'm talking about RoRi..!!!!!!!! good call dude.!!

SOLD

dont do it, these basses are just superb. one of the best neck through TRB's ever made..what don't you like about this instrument.? i heard someone play one of these with a Glock preamp in it, and it was amazingly good.
17. the master, imo. always reminds me of Rod Temperton's production. one great, great record. !!!
18.
The guy is more on it in the first video, nice rich tone as well. I loves LJ's slapping on this Jackson tune, really heavy groove. http://m.youtube.com...h?v=xjZ1CzcK1GI
that is always superb. his slap is so tight. and so for the music.
19. i will say the best bass teacher is a piano teacher. well from my perspective anyways.
20. aaahh. thanks Skej. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHdN_O5k3WM
21.
Cool playing and musical slap. Too much technique in the second one for me. Too far removed from what is needed and not what can be rammed in but the first vid is a great example of playing something cool that works without being too flashy! P.s. Fixed so people can actually watch them and not have to faff with the links!
sorry dude, I'm only getting links with my posts. don't know why.
22.
His thumb freaks me out.
great for double thumbing and love making apparently.
23. I've seen a few vids from a guy called Valter Kabas. . i really liked his slap playing on this classic. its one of the coolest most musical slap parts, that just work so well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOJzRxlBRhI but this doesn't work so well. I like to think i know what sounds good, and for me this slap bass guitar doesn't on this record. it seems a classic example of slap bass used where it shouldn't be. i just get the impression he's not thinking about the record/music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLmnKiuSy-Y i don't want to knock anyones playing. although the skills are there, you can't apply those slap skills to everything. skills aren't the basis for taste i reckon. i guess i like simple musical slap.
24. aint it good when just stumble across music/people/musicians like this.. both fantastic. thanks for sharing Fionn
25. this is cool. The Winnans classic. Maceo and the great Candy Dulfer. if you like your smooth jazz this track just gets better and better.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4T-7XxTnAU
