possibly because its a softer wood, so can be easily dinged. Companies usually use a hard laquer/paint as to rectify this. Like the Bongo. thats made out of basswood.

I bought Alive in America a while ago and been loving it. I will always be a bass player. But the more i have lesson/ play the Piano/Reading, the more i think there is more music at my finger's. I've got to grade 3 now, and its a real musical journey. maybe its because i never had the chance geographically to get good bass lessons. it is helping my bass playing no end. anyone else playing the piano.? like i said the bass for me is forever.

i think there is something to learn, i was never into Bob Dillon, thought he was an bad singer, just didn't get it. then i listened to his lyrics and then realised what all the fuss was about. you like what you like, but there is so much amazing music out there that doesn't necessarily hit your buttons initially. you can't like everything, but you can certainly make the effort. i know this, if you do, it will make you a better musician.

I had a superb SR5, single H. yes it was heavy, but man was it a joy to play. and a monster tone. the spacing was great. Never really was into the slap tone, but thats just preference of course. can't really see why a G string closer to the edge would be a problem, and certainly don't see it as a design fault. the only thing i can think of is if someone is bending a note/pulling downwards, and technically there is no reason to do this.maybe I'm missing something. [font=helvetica, arial, sans-serif][color=#282828]im trying to think of a reason, playing wise why/ how you could pull the G string of the neck,? an SR5 is not that close. there a little thin on the ground around Gloucestershire, and never seem to be dedicated Electric Bass teachers, but sometimes thats can be a good thing, imo. i never did, or ever found someone. but i did take Piano lessons, and it helped my bass playing no end. anyway this is a good link. i hope you find your way.
