1. imo, this is one of the best Chic productions they ever did. Bernard on bass, his bass playing is fantastic on this record. really great groove playing. Nile on guitar. its a cracker with Fonzi Thornton on vocals. not very well known, but a really cool record. this sort of stuff gets me up in the morning
2. pitty i couldnt find Peg because its a cracker. but Josie is a good one. the drum solo is of the wall.not sure if its Peter Erskine or Dennis Chambers. ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTA3fXbCpYw
3. Alot of live Steely Dan live albums i dont care for. but Alive in America is a cracker. was listening to it today, the playing and general sound is fantastic. Tom's bass playing is always on the money. the all Sax horn section on this track is fantastic also. i love Walters vocals on The Book of Liars. such a great record.
4. Rotosound.. awful. last as long as a week. i will never buy another string but DR's.. expensive, but imo they are easily the best on the market.
5. these are cracking basses. more evidence that Japan is one of the worlds best bass makers.
6. you mention DJ Zebra.!!!! a favorite of mine, i think these 2 songs are seamlessly put together by DJ Zebra. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kMHL8PW-EM
7. cool to hear these thoughts. but im wondering if you actually watched the vid.? very confusing
8. i love this guy. he is a master of what he does. love to hear peoples thoughts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkffTM7vy6o
9. This guy smokes. just love his style, i saw him once in London playing for Incognito. his drumming style i really dig. here he is with some hip hop suspects.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_x1jfGM1BY hes played with Incognito, Omar, but this vid is great, sorry i posted this before. his great solo playing is at 5.50 onwards. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izR1EbgZf7M
10. im now bored of there sound. i can hear some fantastic stuff in there covers, awsome technical ability, driven by a good song.. but this music doesnt do it for me. i think there showing there colours. thats not a bad thing. its just not for me. and for me, there is no soul or character in this record
11. i bet he talks of ghost notes.
12. shiver my pigging timbers.! that is fantastic. i thought my old Modulus J4 had a good quilt top, the finest quilted maple i have ever seen. best looking jazz bass on BC for a long time. i quiver in the corner thinking about how good that bass sounds.
13.
Willie Weeks on Bass i believe.....correct me if i'm wrong.....never the less Beautifull.
yes Willie Weeks on this live album. my opinions are subjective of course. there a great band on this album. "Little Ghetto Boy" is some of the best bass playing ive ever heard, not just from Willie but from any bassist ever. oh f*** it, here it is. his playing is just wonderfully musical. 14. For as long as i can remember Donny Hathaway's voice has been in my memory. i personally think as subjective as this subject is, he has the best voice ever to be recorded. he has power, control, subtlety, he never EVER, misses a note, or goes off key. pure perfection.. and this recording is live. to think this man threw himself out of a building and killed himself from depression.?
15. maybe not when you were a nipper Jack, but guys like the Who when they were that young, would smash them into oblivion. they are fantastic all the same.
16. I remember when this album first came out, think i was 11, just loved it. so much soul influence Mick had, and still has. i just think there first album was such a great one. such a superior album than anything that came after. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbmCVSSMxYY i think this is such a great record. 17. nothing wrong with having one bass. i had 14 at one time, then i realised the Jazz bass could cover everything.
18. oh my lord his is great. Ice T went all rock on me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okpfj2UuF6U
19. if ever there was a crackin rock funk record, this is it for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDWJGslOf70
20. i thought i might start a thread. its of a genre that im sure is familiar with alot of us. well Pete has his funk groove nonsense.! i thought i might start it off with a band called Player. would love to hear some of the stuff people know, as im not really a rock specialist. you could say this is my way of wanting to listen to more. and this awsome record, just bad ass Zep this is.

yeah for sure, i know where your coming from.. this is just one video. he is fret w***ing, but why not.? hes a great bassist. but in a musical context its a little ego driven. dont get me wrong i dig his skills

i think the general consensus is that alot of bassists/musicians dont like fret w***ing. i am one of those people. in the words of Alan Partridge. its just saaaaaad.
