4. sometimes you can fingerstyle play lines that sound like slap, but aint actually slappin. just get them fingers under the strings
5. well for those that might not know.
6. i dont tend to swear on bass chat. but that is f***in amazing.!! always loved the original. good call Fionn.
7.
Thanks for sharing this. The music is great and the quality of the video (sound and image) is perfect! I have seen him live once at the North Sea Jazz Festival.
well i knew you would love it.!
8. ive gotta say that fill he plays from 2.00 is just so cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=pATcvr3zAhg#t=152
9.
^ Soo true. He just exudes musicality, rather than the (to me anyway) soulless playing of wooten
i have too disagree. Victor Wooten has soul in so many ways. im not sure how you could define soul, but maybe there are some segments of the soul genre you could define as groove. if so Victor has it without doubt. his fingerstyle groove is supreme. 10. imo. this is what Sharay Reed is all about.. from the vid you would just think its another you tube bassist. MAN his musical way, is just amazing. hes the total opposite to Victor Wooten. and thats exactly why i love his playing so much. his fills and just general bouncing from chord to chord are fantastic. ive always thought its all in the detail with Sharay Reed. and imo hes a master at making those little details count. to be fair its just one video. this guy might be a hold down the groove, type of player, hes just showing his chops.? but this video/playing is not for me. less really is more sometimes, . anyway, his jazz bass is wonky, and he looks like Vanilla Ice.
12. Always loved this brazilian Pianist's music..instrumental jazz funk at its best. superb groove.. just wanted to share. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_ivvEDV5_0&list=TLk4dnmYm09CQZRJNGCyRYc21dPg-pC9NG
13. its never a good idea, unless you want a project. very neck heavy, the body was possibly designed for the weight of a four string neck. you will have to re route for a five string set of pickups. unless you want only a few of the strings to be amplified properly. these are just 2 reasons why people tend not to convert 4 string basses into 5 string. there are lots more. and believe me, unless your a luthier genius, the B string will be as dead as a dodo. much less effort to buy a 5 string that was designed to be one.
14. lovely basses. got any more pics of the Moon.?
15. i very much doubt its the pickup. i would say with a lot of confidence, its a Potentiometer problem. my Jazz bridge pup stopped working and it was the cheap pot that gave up. pickups untouched last for years and years, pots dont. 30 pounds max will get you a top of the line CTS pot, fitted by a shop.
16. these are really rare to find for sale, but there is one at Chandlers.(possibly an old ad) ? http://www.chandlerguitars.co.uk/product_Detail.php?ItemID=3386
17. OverWater called it the Progress Fusion. the earlier model from the Progress, or later im not sure. that is definately the model. i played one from a guy who lives near to me. blue flame maple, very cool tone.
18. just wanted to add this.. tight as a very tight band comes. good on you Mo Brandis. it just gets better and better towards the end. loving the guitar solo. as always Peter is killin on the drums.
19. Ive always been a longtime hip hop fan since i was 13. this IMO is the best scratching hip hop DJ of all time. hes a mexican guy called DJ Craze loving that he has some GangStarr in his set. anyways check this guy out. hes spent alot of year crafting what he does. i cant say its hugely musical but i do appreciate what he does.
20. I just stumbled across this from about 13 years ago, with an old band that just got sent to me by an old friend. excuse the very messy changes, dont think i knew them at the time.. great musicians i was playing with though.
21. now you come to mention it, its not the best jazz bass tone ive ever heard. a little glassy and brittle. cant say i can here any excessive fret/string noise though, just sounds like a Jazz bass with tone full on. cant see/hear Julian Crampton ever making that mistake. it didnt distracted me from the bass playing and the track i may add
22. i was just listening to this album again after a while. i so dig the arrangements, but Julian's bass playing is just superb.! a true great when it comes to groove playing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWyqHNqTCPU&list=PL0bP-iIPuoCNxtoA6I1J56oUtaLUYcY9V
23. oh you tease you. its not a 1970 natural with maple fb pearl blocks and white binding by any chance.?
