1. Damn this is funky. awsome drumming from Phil Collins. he holds that down, with the amazing George Duke on keys. dont get much better funk than this.. not many vids do i see with these guys together...
2. this bass playing from mr X is just amazing.. i still think its Randy HOPE Taylor from Incognito. just sounds so much like him. im prob totally wrong mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRYVODHgKY0
3. good call Fionn. really classic stuff. i remember when i first heard Too Young to Die, was in a club in Cheltenham. naive as he was back then, him and his band made some killer records.. great drumming, great percussion, and some great bass playing from Stuart. hes a fantastic bassist. Mr X's bass playing on the 12' space cowboy is still way better than stuarts mind. just imo.
4. Love this record, the album is fantastic. the lyrics say it all. totally.!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mljFfAyWVL0&list=FLzVUqeF1SLjxa78y2gd03dQ&index=3
5. you gotta love this.. cant say i will ever love 2 basses playing at the same time but it these two I heard on the grapevine that Mark has been playing with Princes band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKIbcWEErrU
6. Im sure ive posted this before in the past but was reminded of it by a friend. so f*** it its great. A great musician who went solo from the band ToniToniTone, (i think i spelt that right) i have every album hes ever recorded and there all great. hes no virtuoso on the bass but hes a great musician from what ive heard. 6.00 mins in this track really is superb.! the vocals from the guy on the keys at the end are really really great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDsHJW5E1zk
7. They take the Fender design and make them better.
8.
I think it was nstarted as a kind of joke by a DJ, but turned into a bit of a riot. To be honest, amongst the really good stuff was some total dross.
as was any other genre Pete. when it was bad it was just like any other, when it was good it was epic dance music that will last forever.. For me Disco came from something amazing and turned into something amazing. it was just a blend of soul music. just someone put a stupid name on it. its like some idiot called Jazz Funk 'Acid Jazz' .. moron
9. i think Disco was hatted by rockers because Disco at the time was seen as a hedonistic lifestyle, and talking about "Good Times", at a time when America was financially in trouble. not for a second do i think that these rioters were knocking the talent that goes into some of the classic disco record, i think they were just pissed off, that times were hard and people were having a good one.
10. i dont say this lightly. but there is not much else i can say but, just wonderful. easily one of the most musical bass players alive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVab_CbwecE
11. ive owned a Sei 5 string jazz and they are really amazing. you have to play one to realise how special they feel. i so want another.!
12. one of the best keys man who has ever lived, as well as one of the best all round musicians. a true all rounder was George. im not going to be sad though because he left me so much amazing music to listen to.. i think thats the best way to look at him and his music.
13. im not knocking Wal basses but when i played one a few years ago, the tone was a very uninspiring thud. it was beautifully made but apart from that i really couldnt see the appeal from the tone. but the feel of the bass was amazing
14. They are killer basses, the necks are really nice. very versatile. good buy.
15. I was listening to some Steely Dan yesterday, there is so much material that is not so popular but. they really are one of those bands that always have some hidden magic. profound music that really stays with you. there is no way i cant tap my foot to this SD funk. there are so many more. i will never tire of these guys.
16. thats a crackin bass Pbass, but did they have string through bodies back then.?
17. the trouble with old strings is you cant brighten the tone to you requirements, but you can take out the highs with new strings.

21. My sister played David Bowie earlier, it was Lets Dance, she thinks that is the coolest record shes ever heard. we often get into discussions about music, this is possibly the coolest record ive ever heard, and for the record, i would so smoke you on the bass bitch. 22. wow. nice bass. im thinking that Brazilian rosewood is very hard to come by,, especially a Fender.. . no USA builder will export this wood.. this dont make a huge difference tone wise, but its very rare and a very cool Fender
23. i would never be without my jazz bass but i do love the thump of a good P bass. with some DR's the P bass can have some awsome tone
