  1. I'm still here. 😁
  2. Its just dripping with funk. The live video is awesome.
  3. Yes I'm familiar with those. 👍
  4. Funk is a feel it's not necessarily just a genre of music. I hear funk in lots of styles of music from soul disco rock etc. also I hear lots of jazz in soul music like Anita Baker for example. I hear lots of Funk in Rage Against the Machine, etc etc, Reggae in the Police. the lines of genres of music have been blurred for many many years imo. Straight up Funk is JB, Pleasure, Maceo Parker Ohio Players etc. lots of space, listen to Maceo Parkers Cross the Tracks. You couldn't possibly get a more funky track. This is how I feel about funk and it's only my opinion.
  5. Great bass stock but I put some Nordstrand fat stacks and a Glock preamp in one I used to own and wow what a bass.
  6. The first was this amazing record. I remember learning the root notes then wanting to learn the chord notes.
  7. Interested to hear why you say that.? Chord tones are more usable. Imo
  8. I saw this guy at the Jazz Cafe when he played on a record for Incognito. My sister bought me this old Ed DVD for Xmas. These guys are so bad ass.
  9. I dig these. Mark Smith from talking bass has one and it sounds superb.
  10. I actually prefer his playing on a fretted bass. I wonder if he was reading at this point.?
  11. The whole live concert is pretty amazing. I always sort of got him but never really musically understood him because I don't like fusion so I got a little bored. But his playing on this and the way he outlines the chords and the notes he plays are just magic. You can hear his musical influences with the notes he chooses imo.. the more I listen the more mind bending his playing gets.
  12. Any ideas. ? Looks like an old Jazz Bass but it has something else.. can't quite describe it. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1BP1Ssh5Rd/
  13. I had a Sei J5. good lord was it great to play and hold. Probably the nicest I've had. Stunning build from the sunken bridge to the olivewood top he folded over the arm contour. The details were hand made, you could just tell. Did it sound like a jazz bass.? Nope. That wasn't a bad thing. It was just a beautiful instrument and you could tell just by picking it up. The bass in question is above.
  14. Erm.. Price.? And nothing else but playing it matters if your that meticulous.
  15. I don't unfortunately. The RV5 is in the middle. I traded it with a CS Jazz. The UV went way back for the SR5 on the left. The SR5 was utterly killer.
  16. Good call. I bought an Metro RV5 direct from Sadowsky and a UV70 5 back in 2013/2014..They are as good as jazz basses get imo. Both cost £1750 back then.
  17. I was just wondering what others felt about Modes. How did you learn them. Did you find it hard to get your head around. Do you find them interesting musically. I came to the end my journey thinking why I found them hard in the first place.
  18. The greatest neck on any 4 string bass ever.
  19. Great to hear. You might want to check out Jarrod Lawson if you haven't done already. He's a superb pianist with an incredible voice.. saw him live at the Jazz Cafe..
  20. Oh and vintage OW..
  21. Looks like they are offering two new colours. It's not a UK site so not sure there available in the UK yet.? Shell pink and Seafoam green.
  22. I'm looking to pick up a used 6 string. I do like a flat neck back to front. Nothing below 18 mm spacing. I'm looking at a Yamaha TRB1006 as I used to own a TRB6ll and it was amazing but other suggestions are welcome. Does anyone own a 1006? What are your thoughts on it.
