  1. Yes ive also pondered Bacchus.. Hmmm. Where to buy Bacchus.?
  2. I think pickups will change the sound of a bass more than a preamp.
  3. Anyone own either of these instruments. I have a spare £800 and im looking for a modern sounding 5 string to add to my collection. Whats the difference between the M7 and the M5.? Build quality etc..? Any othe modern sounding basses in this price range.? Thankyou for any info.
  4. Soooo. Had a rehearsal with the Jazz and I can't fault it really. weight is around 9 pounds. Feels good. doesn't feel cheap at all. I will say it doesn't feel like a really expensive bass but it doesn't feel like a cheap one either.. Tuners are rock solid, controls are smooth.. the sound is what struck me.. Sounds like a great jazz bass, and the pickups are really clear, fat and punchy, and I mean REALLY fat and punchy.. I. .. I would say the tone of it is probably one of my favourite jazz bass tones and it where this bass really shines. Way fatter than my old Suhr, possibly because its a 60's position bass and the Suhr was 70's.?.. Neck is a really nice C shape. No single coil hum at all which surprised me.. With all that said on really close inspection the frets are a little messy, with a tiny bit of glue spotted. and the fret ends aren't perfect. The neck pocket is tight but not perfect. But hey this is a sub £400 bass and I can live with that. All in all this is a great workhorse jazz bass, sounds amazing and growly when dug in, really comfortable, lovely neck. no brainer.
  5. Anyone know what strings Squire ship their basses with.?
  6. Yeah sure. Give me a few days.
  7. Ah ok, ill take your knowledge on board.. I didnt though. I bought it to play it.
  8. Well nearly got it.. Was initially looking at a P Bass but there just not my thing tonally. So looked for a 4 string Jazz to go with my Atelier 5 without spending £thousands.. This fits the bill. Have heard great things in as much as build quality etc. Didn't want to mod it, just pick it up and play.. I really like gold and white, not sure about the gold pick guard so will change that out for a dark brown tort maybe. I think these may be sought after in years to come maybe.? . Ill take it to rehearsal and see how it sounds through the Aguilar.. 😎
  9. If I can't find what I'm looking for I may change the preamp for a Bartolini NTMB 2 band.
  10. Tried Danny. he doesn't want to know.
  11. thank you Luke.
  12. Well a few wires have come loose from the pan pot and the guy I take my basses to is telling me he needs a wiring diagram. Maybe a pic would help Gwilym.. Is it an EQ/M preamp.? Mine is also a DAL but its from 97 so the pre may have changed over the years
  13. As per title, this is a long shot but I was wondering if anyone knew where I could source a diagram for an Atelier Z EQ/M 2 band preamp.? I would try Atelier Z but the contact is all in Japanese. Ive also contacted Bass Freaks and Danny Stewart but they haven't got back to me yet. Any ideas most welcome.
  14. I played a Fibenare all long way back and it was stunning.
  15. I bought my first brand new Sadowsky RV5 directly from Sadowsky about 10 years ago. Was £1700. I think their a little overpriced nowadays.
  16. actually that would annoy me. It looks like one of those lovely black headstock 55-02's. Props to not giving out the shops name.
  17. The only thing that would bother me is the headstock. Pics of the gap.??
  18. Hey I'm just here to push new music. I blame my sister with her amazing musical taste. Everything played by Otis Mcdonald.
  19. 70s jazz bass spacing. Ash top maple neck. The AZ preamp gives it some beef. It sounds to me like a 70's jazz. Still sounds like a 70's jazz. Excuse the horrible timing, its not like I was recording myself.
  20. Did he.? I didn't know that.
  21. I love jazz basses. I find the tone much more interesting than any other bass tbh. More versatile. The 70's jazz bass for me just has that tone.. My only negative is they can sound thin. I used to own a Suhr custom 70's jazz below. I A\B ,d it with a Fender Original 74 and the Fender sounded huge. Obviously the pickup wind. You can also have a jazz with single coils with no hum. The Suhr had single coils with no hum at all. Amazing sounding and feeling instrument. Probably the best Jazz bass I've ever played.
  22. Thankyou. No i just wanted to keep the bass as original as possible.
