2. arent alot of Mcartneys recorded lines played on a jazz bass.. ? im not really keen on Rics.. i might be shot for saying this but the one i played seem to be more style over substance..
3. yep they dont come up very often.... shame you cant see the great flamed maple in these pics
4. this prob isnt that weird or unusual, but its still ground breaking music imo.. i think Nitin comes under the title of World Music.... some of his stuff is really superb http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dHY1bh79oQ&feature=related
5. i actually think if the internet didnt exist there would be ever more GAS... the lack of info a pics etc would just add to the mystery of basses/amps that people want... we just wouldnt collectively al be able to l acknowledge it
6. 650 for a 2010 US Jazz..?????. this wont last long..
7.
If your budget can stretch a bit I would recommend getting a TRB6ii An Awesome bass !!
this for me is possibly not just the best 6 string, but the best bass for the money.. can be had second for less than a 1006 and tone and quality wise is a world away... same as the killer TRB5 i had but a six with Jazz config
8.
They are decent. But I can see why some people would upgrade the electronics. The preamps sounds like a radio transistor compared to the old TRB6/TRBll. I LOVE the neck on it (a lot better than Ibanez BTB676 for example); it is quite thick but it's a smaller neck to the Ibanez, whereas the Ibanez is thinner but a lot bigger. In terms of waiting around for yamaha TRB6 to come up secondhand.. I was doing that for 4 months and one didn't come up so I bought TRB1006. I'm glad I did that as a TRB6 STILL has not come up secondhand on here, ebay or gumtree! If you can get one for around £300 (mine was that) i'd say go for it
ive seen at least 3 TRB6 come up for sale
9. i had the 5 string version.. was a beast with sooo many tone possibilities.... a monster of thunderous tone
10. a few reviews here Pete... http://www.harmonycentral.com/products/49945 im there not bad basses at all but they are not in the league of the other TRB 6 basses.. they look lovely though... i would get one but change the preamp...
11.
I can't wait myself for the new 6er ! I honestly never knew why they used those hair scrunchies untill now Is it me or is that a 'shortcut' to make sure the others don't ring ?
i personally think the scrunchie is a bit of a cheat.. its not hard to keep every string muted on a 6 string. but its hard if you have fallen into bad habits.... the combination of both hands should be used to keep everthing under control... imo
12. 700 for a Modulus jazz bass... done deal for me
13.
u feelin it yet? groovin is like sex b4 u cum and ruin it 4 everybody, jizz everywhere. its diggin in and doin it gud. NO WAFFLE. this is 4real.
are you on drugs..?
14. i wanted to put a better bridge on my jazz bass, but after a bit thought i was wondering why i really needed to... the tone of my jazz is great with new strings on it.. obviously mine has the bent metal bridge....... i really cant see a 75 jazz with a high mass bridge sounding that much better imo high mass bridges are a marketing ploy.. just like string through bodies etc.
15. i had a Modulus VJ4 jazz bass... it was totally stunning... quilted maple, full graphite.... the best bass i ever played.... But... the tone was not at all like a jazz bass.. not a bad tone but for me, it had no character.... the fretless VJ may be a different bass because of the fact that its a fretless... i dont know.... an unlined fretless VJ4 Genesis, with an ebony board... now thats a great bass

17. not at all... i think most BC members would say this is some crackin bass playing.... just not the sort that they love...
18. Yep.. i know this a very subjective question... but what i think comes close, is a bass line that does everything required, in a balanced way, to compliment the chords/rythm/song but show the players own personality.. this Freddie Washington on his P bass is just groove central imo... i cant imagine someone playing a better line on this track.. subjective of course.. 19.
Today, Tomorrow & Forever "Mighty Fine" Great bassline.
Ro Ri you certainly know your stuff... good call..
