1. one of my favorite jazz funk records from prob my favorite band of all time... the days of Randy Taylor...check out Graham's key solo on this..
2. you aint wrong with that one Jack.. the first album is by far the best imo... but this is such a great soul record...
3. never will i forget these guys.. great song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZAwfSZU2v4
4. i agree, and i think it shows a good musician that wants to be creative...i applaud you for it.... ive played bass lines that i know and inverted the bass line within the chord and all sorts, double stops, a little slap.. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.. this is always within the comfort of a studio/music room... then if you and your band think it works, let it go live... i cant stand the thought of music being a regime , ive spent 15 years learning how to play with no help, so i want to make sure i enjoy it..its my passion..... music is suppose to be fun, and what ever music your playing should be approached in that way... imo
5. the tone on that Roscoe is mighty fine.. very punchy with a great pop to it
6.
Wow - look amazing! I might prefer it to be a bit of a darker blue but I'm a sucker for his kind of finish
cant say im a massive fan of the light blue either Barrie, but that quilt is just awsome... my new GAS has just reared its attractive head and showed what will haunt my wallet for the next year........ sh*t..
7. i listened to this song this evening after a crap family row.. sounds a bit cheesy, but i wish people would do it more often... family or not.. group hug??? music is the best remedy..
8. damn you Risington, i thought i let the gas go with my new jazz but those Pensas just sound asmome
9. i was very very close to buying a 4 string Pensa jazz, direct from Rudy Pensa at the music stop.....he was a co builder of Suhr guitars as im sure you know... i just couldnt drop 2900.00 on a jazz at the time.. i wish i had of taken the jump..i was a phone call away close.. i bought a sadowsky 5 instead...... idiot.... it was a flame maple blue with matching headstock , with maple neck, pearl blocks and the most amazing gold tone knobs with pearl inlays.. too flashy? probably, but they are jazz basses that get my GAS going like no other jazz.. Suhrs and Pensas are my holly grail of jazz basses... is there any better preamp'd tone on a jazz that Ris just posted...not imo.. there just wonderful..
10. THE.. most amazing quilted maple top with matching headstock...its almost 3D.. i played one once with the Suhr preamp and it was prob the best transparent quality i ever played.. it sounded like the perfect 70's jazz... these are VERY expensive though...
11. Zig, surely you have enough stunning basses?? oh.... the GAS.. i forgot..

14. ive found after years of looking, getting the right jazz can be a long wait.. i think ive found it in an MIJ 75,, but time will tell.. very daunting prospect trying to hunt down a good vintage fender, with a good weight...
15. i reckon it might be on the bar in the park.. just on the promenade. in a huge tent they put up. i could be totally wrong.. if it is, its a wicked place to see live music... beer.. sunshine.. Marcus Miller... it dont get any better than that
16. its a while off, but i hope i see you guys there...a bass chat PM will be winging its way to you gloucestershire and non gloucestershire dudes when the time comes
17. when i first heard this band in the early 80's, it turned me on to bass.. even if you dont like this band, Randy's bass playing greatness is undeniable... imo. his 16th note fingerstyle at 3.00 onwards is just awsome
