2. Out of all the Acid Jazz ive listened to over the years i still think James Taylor Quartet's 'In the Hand of the Inevitable' is the best album ive heard.. its def on the soul side of Acid Jazz though.. cant say i really dig the hardcore hammond organ acidjazz heard on other JTQ albums
 3.
This sort of cliche gets bandied about all the time, though I am sure there is some truth in it, Stuart Hamm playing a Kubicki still sounds like Stuart Hamm. Stuart Hamm playing an Urge II still sounds like Stuart Hamm even though the bass tone is different. If you took a '59 P Bass and gave it to Mark King and asked him to slap Mr. Pink out on it, I'm sure he could but the tone is never going to be right.
ive got to agree.. i really dont get this..its all in the fingers..? if Victor played a stingray hes not going to sound like Victor on a Foderaw.. yeah he may play the same licks, but the tone will be different..
 4. This is the badboy for me.. awsome bass..
 5.
Looks like something off a car boot stall for a tenner!
ha ha.. love it.. you aint wrong Pete.. im sure its a crackin player though... i would sell it and get a ray and a jazz..
 6.
I dont realy understand whats so special about it
Well Fender want to charge you nearly 5k for it.. so its erm.... very special...
 7. this is just damn funky.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VegWSAfegA...feature=related
 8.
Move Me No Mountain - intelligent bass lines and no slapping..... certainly is AJ!
im with you... some of his lines are just jaw dropping...
 9.
Good stuff! Move Me No Mountain was played by Anthony Jackson, along with a few other tracks on the album (Naughty 1980). Well worth getting hold of if you haven't already.
ive kept it under my pillow for many years now.. just couldnt remember the players..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNArTCG6j2A This is an outstanding track.. i dont know who plays on it but.. damn.. anyone..? anthony Jackson im thinking.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYqQn99ppeY What a great soul track....fantastic production.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK42oUNyojY a great example of Marcus Millers fantastic slap mixed with fingerstyle.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJ549k4wKmg Do you love what you feel.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dks0Pvtd-qM ive listened to the 12' Prince master piece of this mother in my car on the way to work many a time... yep its aged but its damn funky. 12. im fascinated as to what Industrial Rock is..?
 13. An adjustable bridge would be a great thing on those basses.. like the bridge i had on my old Sei.. can i remember the name of it???
 14. There was a post not so long ago of a girl playing amazing guitar..? cant find it.. anyway this little wipper snapper is playing amazingly to an amazing tune... go girl!!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKF-LoVonE8
 15.
Meanwhile in Glasgow.....
IMHO....There is no comparison whatsoever.. as great as that sweet liitle chap is, (oh i dont want to say it!!) he doesnt compare...
 16. Thoughts of bad hair cuts and image aside.. i gotta say i really dig this.. they are f***in TIGHT..these guys can play... i wouldnt even recognise this as a Brit cover.. I think Danny Saucedo is a fantastic bassist.. if you can play those licks, still smiling and blow your hair away at the same time, your ok in my book.. There is no doubt the singer is a great pianist and a great singer... yep the drummer is killing too.. they make for a killer rythm section.. they are a very good 3 piece... yes its pop, but its great great funky pop... more GAS for you Chris.. i havent seen a band like this who play like this in a while.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ko0kdCf0zTE...feature=related sh*t i sound like a fanboy..
 17.
Do I detect a hint of jealousy here, gentlemen?
whithout a doubt...Did anyone actually watch the whole vid..??? or is everyone throwing there toys out of the pram because of the slapping at the start? really cant see what most of you guys are on about?? hes a great player.. Jeez.. give him some credit... you guys sound as old as he is..
 18.
You'd be better off just listening rather than watching the videos. As soon as you see the bassist's haircut you'll be wanting to punch him in the face because of his stupid haircut! Nice tone though.
oop.. there goes another..
 19.
Marcus Miller has played a jazz bass as his main bass for years...reason to suspect he doesn't have the highest standards of tone...confirmed when you listen to him! Victor Wooten on the other hand, with his brace of Fodera basses has always sounded amazing. Mind you, Marcus has played enough boutique basses over the years to know what he likes and what he doesn't like. That said, it doesn't take much effort to get a better tone than he has so I suppose it's a case of horses for courses.
You can always count on Chris to come out with the statement of the thread.. your opinion of course
 20. This was on his website... thought it was interesting to here.. Question: What reason(s) do you see for an average or even a good player to buy a very expensive bass? Answer: "My opinion is that the features that make most of those really expensive basses so expensive (beautiful wood, longer sustain, a thousand pickup settings) are pretty useless when it comes down to holding down a groove. As a matter of fact, I've had my drummer plead with me to throw all my sound check basses away (I'm always bringing a new bass to sound check to try out. Most of them cost upwards of $2500. Most of them sound like science projects. A couple are good for a particular song, usually one that requires a thinner sound). Get a good solid bass that you can play a whole set on. Make sure it sounds good when the band is playing, not just in the music store (there's a big difference). If you have a relationship with a music store guy and can bring it with you for a day, record it and listen to the tone back. When you hear it back you won't be getting fooled by the amp's coloring. Don't go so cheap that you run the risk of tuning or workmanship quality problems. But it doesn't have to cost $5000 either. Spend the extra money on a good pre-amp (Sadowsky's is good) and some CD's to practice to."
 21. ha.. no EBS.. i wanted a TRB before i saw them...
