4. I wanted to share this vid.. i mentioned it in another thread.. even if you dont like Prince, its a fantastic look into the world of a man who is a master at his craft.... i personally think he is THE genius of all the major musicians who have lived.. i would put him above Stevie Wonder.. prob a bold statement, but his sometimes androgynous flair, mix of styles and his amazing way of working his image, to me made him the ultimate icon... apart from all that the guy can f***in play.. im still finding new things in his music, and i think when you do that its a sign of a great musician, or great music.... i hope you enjoy it as much as did.. waffle waffle waffle.. 16. Im new to down tuning and changing strings.. hope you guys clear this up... when changing down strings on a five string you change strings right? is it not possible to just tune down/or up, your original strings to the required note.. for example, can you use a normal E string and tune it down to B..ive always used standard tuning so am lost..
  17.
Just listen to them play...!
come on Chris, you know playing is subjective.. there are fantastic bassists, but the best is like saying my girlfriend is better looking than yours

Wasnt i trying to snag this from you a while ago Geoff.. check this out, they are great sounding basses.. this guy told me the pickups were stock, but the pre was an Audere. sounds amazing...i can imagine the EBS sounds just as good.. good luck with the sale... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuCbY-_Qmuc amazing what sound you can get from a bass at this price range..
  19.
This hits the nail right on the head. And with all due respect, I suspect aside from Mike Flynn that Geert is probably the best bassist on Basschat. If you've ever seen his youtube videos you'll know what I mean! So if he is ok with it...
so why are they the best then?
  20.
Pretty interested... where abouts are you?? Would want to have a look at this... whats the body??? and does it have a case?? Carl.
Ash.. wonderful basses...
  21. only available in MIJ/CIJ.. they have all the exciting Fenders..
  22. quote>>> Often the impression of dynamics comes from the space that the good players leave in between what they're playing.<<<quote.. bang on.. slapping for the music as Mr Washington does in that great tune says it all... there is a wide line between tasteful slap and lesser so.. i wouldnt agree that you cant get certain desired dynamics from the technique though.. ive heard some wonderful slapping from Randy Taylor.. you wouldnt even know he was slapping until you looked for it... Chuck Rainey on Peg is a good example too..
  23.
I don't slap much. I mainly widdle. But seriously, if I don't try playing a bass fast, how do I find out if I can play it fast? As I believe Chuck Rainey said, you don't want the instrument to hinder your expression. Therefore you have to see what you can do on it. When I'm trying an instrument I want to see how little it limits my expression, not whether I can play a blues in A; being able to play it with as little hindrance as possible is very important to me. One other thing, people always seem to assume that people playing fast in shops (slapping or otherwise) are showing off/attempting to show off. Why? I'm usually in my own little world (see first para), and unaware of most people around me. I know plenty of other people who are the same.
i can tell the difference in someone trying out a bass and shining his ego...
  24. in my book the coolest ever bass player is this woman.. in looks and playing.. or Pino.. hes doesnt even mean to be cool but he so is..
