the standard Fender jazz is a very good bass.. for me i wouldnt even go USA.. CIJ make a better bass IMO.. cheaper, as well made in all areas, and no routing under the pickguard.. USA FEnder just dont cut it for me.. My MIJ Jazz bass is way better than my old USA Jazz and as good as my old Custom Shop...

I put the Lollar pickups in my Jazz bass today.. just... wow..... ive tried most of the great pups from Nords to Fralins to Sadowsky in my past jazz basses.. but i really really like these pups.. of course they bring the bass alive from the Japan pickups but good god.... they are the real deal when it comes to a jazz bass pickup....im really blown away at how good these things sound... there much smoother and less aggressive than the Fralin's i had.. but punchier than the Nordstrand NJse's i had in the CS Fender, and alot less compressed being a single coil... if you want a very aggressive J pickup though these are not for you... i always heard great things about Jason Lollar pickups and im glad to say its all true.... of course your ear will tell you but in my opinion these are as good as Jazz pickups get.. its amazing what a good pickup can do to a bass...this is now a proper world class jazz bass if you get the chance, try these pups in your jazz.!!. it sounds so so good with the Audere...the perfect super jazz tone...im wondering what these pups are like running a passive bass.. through the Aguilar amp there is not anything jazz wise that ive owened, that comes close to what my MIJ sounds like now...incredible pickups that cost alot less than the 200 squid Nordies.. thanks Clarky..

its not that i dont care about sustain, but its a problem that very rarely arrises... unless you have a very shoddy bass with 10 year old strings, its not going to be a problem.. sustain is a moot point nowadays as most basses can do it... there is such a thing as over engineering... im betting i could give you guys an Encore with fresh strings, and you could have sustain for any song you want.. you may or may not like the tone, but thats a different story...

how are you defining better.. is your taste better.? you dont like the style we get it... you would hate Mezzoforte..

very cool playing.. right on the money.. i just adore that fender jazz bass tone.. nothing else like it... ok maybe the other ones.. i do hate pigeon holeing of music though.. lift music, Ceefax music. job finder..???. i bet whats gone into it is far and beyond what most of us are capable of.. its just not your style.. sorry that really gets on my wick..

i agree but most basses have a sustain that lasts for 1 or 2 bars... i think the marketing thing stems from claims that one bass sustains more than others... to start saying a bass should sustain for ages is IMO marketing..

overwater really went to town to make that jazz a looker... i would like a review please Machines.. ps..i suspect its a modern sounding jazz bass..

i just dont buy it.. ive played hundreds of basses and everyone could hold a note for 5 seconds or more... if not the strings are very old... there is much more important things in bass guitars... im a total geek when it comes to basses but i know whats worth spending money on to get a good tone..Thats why i bought some Lollars from Clarky... oooh that mans a good egg.

recently iplayed a bongo a sr4 and a sterling and the sterling was the best IMO.. awsome focused slap tone..

its marketing yep.. just like string through bodies, high mass bridges, yeah they do make a difference but the difference is so little the only person who cares is the bassist... dont get me wrong i love pimping basses but sometimes i feel that alot of companies are engineering stuff for a problem that isnt there..

.. i do think that a note should sustain, but when do you ever play a note for that long? most basses sustain long enough to make good music..i really dont buy into this 'my bass sustains for days'... who cares
