1. the impression i get is that they are a hifi sounding bass? is there more to them
2. that might be the case from the Lightwave bass review, but its not the case with other basses hes reviewed..imo.. most of the time i come away with a good impression of his reviews.. and learned everything from the reviewed instrument... i think hes usually an excellent reviewer whos comprehensive in his opinions and reviewing style..
3.
I always have ed friedland in mind whenever I review a bass. I want to hear how versatile it is tonally and then pick my favorite/necessary tones from there.
i always love his reviews M.. very comprehensive and with a hint of humour.. if there was anyone who i wanted to review a bass for me, its that man
4. learn it or take it to a tech... this is the best online bass that ive seen... set up from Carl Pedigo's Lakland.. there is 2 parts to this.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIzV9462xeE
5.
Yeah I've heard the Model J's are good but the Ultra J's are definately sounding like my kind of thing. They are officially on my radar! Really mate!? That's great. I'm definately going for the preamp first to see how I get on before touching the pickups!
im sure the tone would be better with a pair of Lindy's or Barts..(would be my choice) but with with the japan pups it does sound superb.. its the way to go for a jazz pre amp..or J East but thats more expensive.. an audere with great pickups would sound superb!.. but for the extra 100-200 squid, its not that much difference..IMHO

22. i dont give a sh*t about the pickups, i really like the look of the old P basses.. i bet it sounds bad ass
23. would love to try one of these.. the neck sounds amazing.. isnt Geddy's tone very aggressive though? what pickups are in there..stock Jap pups? how would you guys rate it next to a standard Japan Jazz?
24.
I think Guitar Shop is a great album. Soulive are great and they don't have a bass guitar,Steve Gadd's last album used Organ bass, loads of Michael Jackson' stuff was Synth bass. There is bass there,it's just not played on upright or bass guitar.
Which particular Micheal Jackson stuff are you referring to Dod.?
25. appart from my old SR5, this is the best SR5 ive seen on TB
