Just curious how much it might cost to refinish a bass body in another colour? roughly? does it depend on the finish etc.. would be a flat colour i wanted.. any ideas
Cheers guys, I do like a nice oly white fender! Although that Blizzard Pearl is rather nice. The grain is ace on it, its was the first thing that struck me when I opened it. I was just very lucky I think as this was a order it blind and keep everything crossed job, although alot of people seem to think the new ones have better quality control. Ive never messed around with different string types, ive always left well alone and replaced them with the same ernie balls my ibby had on it when I got it. Maybe I should be a bit more adventurous!! lol I'm still not convinced on the covers, they look great but as you say its not a vintage. As for resale value thats not an issue as it wont be going anywhere!!!
Ahh.... so many times ive said..this bass is a keeper.. and a year down the line ive looked at the for sale section an wham!! you may be different im sure.. it does look very cool with them on mind.. Try some DR strings, Monkeynuts, expensive yes but IMO the best string available.. last forever too where did you get the covers from?..im after some.

Great basses i had one the same colour with the maple neck.. everything is top notch on these recent Jazz basses.. Please though..dont put the ashtray covers on it.. its a modern Fender not a RI or vintage.. you will also kill the resale value.... just my Op
Very nice indeed, congratulations!! The Audere sounds interesting, I'm thinking of replacing an Aguilar OBP-3 with something else and the Audere is high on the list - never tried one out though. Would be interesting to hear some more reflections on it once you have played it some more. Definitely agree that magic stuff can happen with the right pre in a jazz.
Doesnt touch your LPB Jazz BB.. that is one crackin jazz bass -
Partly laziness. Partly as I just acquired wesfinn's awesome Herbie Flowers-inspired '59-alike Jazz (below) and I am not sure I will be keeping my Bacchus
Very nice.. that is sweet.. really like that.. -
Yep, it is passive - I bought a set of Lollar pickups and a J-Retro to turn it into a super-Jazz but couldn't be bothered to fit them! (J-Retro now for sale )
Why? u lazy bugger.. the Audere was just pushing wires in to the connector blocks, and connecting the ground.. not sure about the East? that would have sounded awsome with the Lollars -
Time to start a poll, B5 PS, very nice bass - I have a similar one looks-wise in my Bacchus 62J
WOW thats a spitting image.. is the Bacchus a passive bass Clarky? -
What amused me was that in the poll results graph at the top none of the colors (sic) mentioned corresponded to the colour of the bar representing the result. I suppose that's ironic, and would have been missed by TBers on the whole.
This is like looking through Razzle.....but for Jazz basses and not so working class

I wanted to stay as close to the original as poss but ive obviously blown that one, but yeah a pearl would be nice.. or maybe a tort..lots of colour that though.. ha there was me banging on about pointless threads on Talk Bass.. this is different -

Got it this morning...Very cool bass and very well made..Easily as good as any USA model ive owned..feels very solid...Also resonates really really well, very much like my old CS Jazz... What i love is the lack of routing under the pickguard!!! also you cant really see in the pics but under pickguard you can see the original colour, which is more green.. the body has faded to a mint green/blue..(why do i love that so much)?? The neck has gone real amber compared to the original colour in the neck pocket.. its in great conditon for a 21+ year old bass Really like the stock tone.. Then i put the Audere in to the bass, and f*** me!!! ....Although this pre doesnt add any colour to the tone, it certainly puts the Super, in Super Jazz.. Really flexible preamp, and i love the Z Modes.. i have found it much more intuitive than the John East Deluxe Jazz unit.. But i think thats maybe a bit more comprehensive it really sounds quality and makes me want to play more.. i think thats what a good pre is all about... im amazed what a good pre like this can do for a Jazz Bass excuse the ramblings -
I read silly threads on TB all the time.. ok i post some pointless music threads, but this takes the cake.. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/pick-my-f...olor-me-770967/ im not knocking TB but sometimes the threads take talking bass to its limits
