3. Ive always been a big Hip Hop fan..maybe not in the later days..but im keepin up.... ive got to be honest i dont like alot of sh*t thats played in the mainstream.. some, is great though.. i have always thought that there is alot of actual music, lacking in Hip Hop, but i guess thats the nature of the genre.. But through this, the Guru has been a bit of a pioneer in the world of HH.. i guess this is a thread to a loss of a legend.. he to me has injected so much funk, jazz, and general danceable goodness to this great genre.. i know its not for everyone and doeasnt really have a huge amount of bass guitar in it.. ok some of this has some great bass lines in it... they do hard rap to wonderful funky hip hop..for those who dont know these are some great samples From a Hip Hop point of view, this is a really innovative track... Gang Starr... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGpvI9vN9qU i think alot of respect is due to a guy who has worked with everyone from Courtney Pine, Meshel Ndegeocello, to Ronny Jordan, Branford Marsalis, Lonnie LS, Roy Ayers.. and many more...... and now for something different.. 4. this is a frickin bargain..Just my opinion Mick, but dont drop this any more..
5. not the nicest shape but as long as you dont need to drill holes.. you can take it off yeah.. ha just noticed, slugs.. or leaches sucking the tone out of my bass...them damn tone suckers
6. Anyone know the best place to buy these guards..pref from the UK? ive found some but there £50!!!!! ??
7. yeah i had a US 75 RI, and it was the best neck ive ever played.. the neck shape can (although slight) can make the difference between a good neck and a great neck though..our hands and feel, can tell the difference of mm's and very small diffrences in the shape of a neck
8. Its just practice practice practice.. 10 years ago i had a 4 when i started, but after a few months i tried a 5, and stuck to it for a bit.then went back to 4 and back again... then to a six... even if you just treat the 5 like a 4 and ignore the B for a while until you get used to the feel and width..then concentrate on what a 5 really is and what you can play on it..
9. I just looooove this!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rc0oWjPHEqw
10. i am bias, but an StingRay 5 is poss the best 5 ever made, depending on what you like...2nd hand, under a grand too
11. Had my first rehearsal for 5 months last night... was with a keys playing friend of mine.. was a little apprehensive.. Starting jamming on the SR5 and it was like coming home... plugged it into the Aggy and the flat tone was great.. then switch in bridge position, rolled on the bass a little, mid highs.. roll on the Aggy mids a tad... what a jazz funk tone it was ... the other guys commented on the punch and growl, and the look of it... ive said it so many times but this bass is certainly the most all round instrument ive ever played... you cant get away from an MM tone but what it does it does sooo well.. its so easy to play aswell.. i am really a jazz bass man tone wise and looks, but the SR5 is so close to what i think a 5 string bass should really be.. and what i mean by all round is.... easy to play, not overly expensive, slim neck, good looking, very well made.. its easily as well made as any Sadowsky, Sei, STR, and other boutique basses that i have tried over the years... i would love to try the HS or HH model.. but im very happy with the H tone... sits very nicely within a funk soul outfit.. im pretty sure this bass will stay with me for a long time... i just need a Fender Jazz 4 now..
12. IMO a Jazz is a Jazz... if you want that fat tone stick to the P..... if not.. turn up the bass on amp, roll off the tone pot to 1/4..pups on full, ..and play closer to the neck... i could get a huge tone from my old jazz, with the right EQ from bass and amp.. i take it you still want the zing but want a fatter low end..
13.
I've been on a bit of a slap binge lately: I think I'm upstaged by my cat in this one...
great stuff again H.. 2 things that made me laugh..(in a good way).. 1 your bass face. 2 when you spotted the cat..
14.
For my next video, I promise to do something other than MJ. I couldn't help myself - when I heard this tune, I had to transcribe it. What a groove.
that was frickin awsome... a simple bass line with great detail in your playing H..
15. This will not last long... thats a whole lotta Music Man for the coin

17.
When I had my Aguilar AG500 SC I put it in an SKB X-Series rack case as they did a really shallow one that the amp fitted in perfectly so it was still really light and portable. Link below SKB
That looks like just what im after...thanks Mark..
18. Thankyou Ris i will check that out...
19. i know i was in shock.. very lucky. i think its time to A, get a brain, B find some sort of hard case/bag for it... any ideas...Dont Aggy do a single rack case of sorts?
20. Ok was setting off for a rehearsal tonight... in a major rush to get to Bristol..Heard a grinding noise as we pulled off ( i wasnt driving) so stopped to see what it was... t was my Aguilar head being pushed up the drive under the car..!! ARGH!!.. It was in its head bag...i think the bag took the brunt of the very rough tarmac.. as its been ripped apart.. there is a little scuffing on the amp itself, but nothing major and it still works...????? i sh*t you not i nearly fainted when i realised... how could i have been so stupid!!! This amp is built like a tank though...im amazed it still works... and the bag did its job in a big way..
