hmmm on the squier i seen to have lot of relief in the neck, i prefer the feel of the fender too as i've just added more relief.... i seem to hit the strings pretty hard, is lots of relief ok? my first bass had a reasonbly curvy neck too (it didn't seem to want to go any straighter) so is it this is just what i'm used too? Conversely the valenti is a lot more normal and set up great... is it just my bad set up? i would guess it's just short of 1mm on the squier...
I would imagine the Valenti is set up pretty good, depending on other factors..but out the factory they are sh*t hot..also depending on where you got the bass and what climate changes its gone through.... im guessing your hitting the string pretty hard on the other basses because of the height of the strings from the fret board...or its your technique.. which doesnt mean its bad..just the way you roll i think you got to go with whats more comfortable...im not an expert, but i remember selling my Jazz 24 to a friend and he had his strings quite high..i set it up for him at a fairly good height and he said he loved it a little lower...he could play faster and it was more comfortable... i think you can get used to an instruments setup because thats what your used to!.., and if you dont know how to set a bass up, its what you know and become acustom to.... you dont know until you try....experiment with the basses string height and learn what you like... lessons on setting up a bass online, are your friend... my point is Luke there is no right or wrong...but until you experiment you wont know whats right or wrong for you good man...

all sounded very nice Luke......thanks for posting.. got to say i loved the RI Fender. the growl is undeniable.....Warwick more woody and compressed but good.. The Squire was really good, love the mids...the Valenti was a mid between the Warwick and the Squire...

£5...ill take it...but seriously there £1400 + now..never seen this color combo on a 75 RI....you have a very desirable bass, especially in TTS...its not easy to say but i would put it up for £1000 and see where it goes..this may seem steep but its a rare color and people will pay... its a buyers market, but when you got a bass like that, the balance tips somewhat... to be honest im fed up with seeing people having to sell basses so cheap.... any pics?
Always tried my basses out, except for 2 Sei's and somehow I didn't think I'd have any sort of problem with them But I don't think I'd dare buy some basses like that... I have always kept my basses for a good few years so I guess I was happy enough with my purchasing at that time.
Did you have any probs with your Sei's JT..?

i was talking to a friend and he told me Guru had died of cancer..i dont listen to hip hop too much these days so have been out of touch..when i was, the Guru and Premier were for me, the guys that had something else.. they were a hip hop act that were much more than just hip hop Gang Starr When i first heard this track it was on Robbie Vincents show called "the big beat show" very innovative hip hop track...love the way Guru http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AYZvqcGKV8 this is a great classic..His rapping voice is the smoothest.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OGI6gmYsLk This is smokin.... i would say Nordies but a semi graphite neck may be a bad combo for the super clear Nordies....if i did,i would go for the SE's...vintage but very quiet...not as vintage as the single coils though...lets face it, Nordstrand pickups with an Aguilar preamp are gonna sound incredible...all depends on the bass also like Ou7shined said Lindy's are awsome pickups this is the mine field that is pickup preamp bass combination...impossible to say without playing....there ar loads of Modulus owners on TB...ask them...its the only way to wittle down a final pickup
Yeh it funks hard this tune (Tom Barney is a superb player), although the original recording of this tune is so brutally clean, everything sounds so close in the mix. It's still cool songwriting if it's your thing but I preferred it when they were limited somewhat by technology with stuff like the Royal Scam and Aja, it did the tunes more justice IMO.
Dont get me wrong i love everything these guy did.... this is poss my favorite Fagan track....the guys got funk and soul in his veins.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0ec7n0QL4k...=1&index=25 the best SD vids ive ever seen..Tom Barney is solid..the brass section is superb..!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylr2D4Pwn58 those test tubes and the scales just it all out of here... there are no words for how good this track is.... For me this is super cool..the funkiest super tight music, bass, drums..loads of space in the tune, which is awsome....reminds me of a certain Mark King tune.. focussed jazz funk. wonderfully crafted music from the masters. i bet Pete does this justice..
That's an awful lot you infer about me from my use of a common generalisation, about which you then say: I could have used any number of other descriptions - I described much of last weeks show as "sickly aural gloop", which would be ideal for Jay Kay & chums - but I don't particularly like to repeat myself. And by your own admission you know exactly what I meant by "lift music". Good & bad is subjective & personal, but you won't need me to tell you the best musicians don't necessarily make the "best" music. J.
yeah of course i know it...i know lots of stupid terms...doesnt mean i like them...what the the world doesnt need is generalisation's... if i described Rock music as mindless thrashing and loathsome and insubstantial i would expect a comment or two... your post could have been put better thats all...
