Rasta for me the best JTQ album in "in the hand of the Inevitable" very soulful....yeah Corduroy were/are cool...was that the one with the helicopter on the cover? i remember having a double album.... would just lke to say if the OP wants real Jazz Funk Soul check out Lonnie Liston, Donald Byrd, The Mizzele Bro's, The Brecker Bro's, Billy Cobham..and of course the first Incognito album titled erm...Jazz Funk, bloody amazing...well you might as well start where they all got it from..
 2. DR Fat Beams on the Fender, DR High beams on the Sei...I love the round inner core, that allows for a more flexible string....ction has to be taken up a smidge mind i want to try Black Beauties next...more mid punch and last longer
 3.
Bit old but Galactic, Lettuce, G-love & the special sauce, Cordroy are worthy of a check if you haven't already
+1 for Lettuce.....dont forget JTQ

 5. oh i didnt think of the Bartolinis...of course they are single coils! EBS the controls are screened...the control cavity with black screening paint and the control cover is aluminium with a veneer top..Maybe i should put the Nordstrand NJse's in...and put the Barts in the Fender... i didnt realise but Martin has used the 4 string version of the Bartolinis in a 5 String Sei...
 6. Hey! excuse the title thought it might get your attention.. just wondered what you guys/girls thought...i have a U Retro in my Sei and im getting all sorts of buzzing noises and general interference from electronics....there is a background white noise and when i touch the controls there is a buzz.... oh and the buzzing is still there in passive mode keep in mind this is through headphones so is less easy to hear through the Aguilar...but annoying all the same... any ideas
 7.
I think you would get used to the radius, is it a 4 or a 5?
its a 4 the 5 is US made...the preamps on these arent great also..
 8. Nate isnt even trying...that man has so much groove...he makes it look so easy..hes also got loads of gospel jazz licks under his fingers! totally different league to Paul Turner
 9. IMO it doesnt matter how much you wash your hands, your hands will sweat....no, there is nothing wrong with the neck, but if you dont like the feel of it, there is... there is a reason why Sadowsky and an SR5 dont have high gloss necks.. personally i find a high gloss neck hinders my playing..i use very fine wire wool to take the edge off of it...i like smooth transitions... IMHO
 10. bad tone but i guess its the recording...Prince on a warwick.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nb7HIMRpH1Q...feature=related prince slapping http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELyFLNUbPN0...feature=related
 11.
@bubinga5: If you're an electrician you should perhaps reread what I've stated, apply some of your knowledge about the construction processes of electrical components and realise I've said that the majority of components will be fine once dried out instead of skimming my post and then trying to imply I'm an idiot. Kthxbai.
Mate i didnt skim your post and i didnt imply your an idiot??... ive got a bass to play
 12.
What the chuff are you lot on about? The only things that will possibly be damaged is the finish (due to possible swelling of wood if water soaks in) and some steel components if you didn't dry them afterwards. The electronics for the most part would be perfectly fine once dried out. Actives even more so considering they're often PCB based, ergo, plastic covered copper tracks. Solder doesn't rust either with it being mostly tin and having no iron content. The magnets and screws may rust, but the actual pickup windings will be perfectly fine due to being enamelled copper wiring. Splashing a bucket of water on a bass isn't like you're dropping it in a pool, it's really only going to be a little bit of water which hangs around the bass, most will splash off or roll off rather sharpish. Go for it. Just dry it out fairly promptly.
Im an electrician and water on PCB boards dont mix...isnt the fact that water getting into the neck swelling the wood enough?..i will bet my Sei that if you get water in the pots they will be damaged..how can you be serious that when get water in your pups casings and windings, your pick ups will work properly? how do you know that water wont linger where you dont want it..? you forget that its not just the water getting on the pickups but the electrical signal being passed through these components.. i bet you wouldnt risk it with a £5000 Ritter???? are you really that confident to chuck a bucket of water over his bass??
 13.
Ok sorry... The configuration will be standard P on neck and J on bridge, But what pups? what brand? what model? The differences in the sound ??? That kind of stuff To achieve a good sound !!!! Cheers RR
i really dont think you can go far wrong with a set of Nordstrand NPJ4se hum cancelling set...thats the P and J set.. or some say for more of a vintage sound go for the single coil version...Nordstrand are immense in the pick up market..ive got the SE J's in my jazz and there as good as you can get for clarity.....BUT, there expensive..Sound wise its difficult, because not many people have heard different pickup brands side by side on the same bass..i could be wrong Maybe Wizard could hook you up...? i think you need to talk to a pro pickup manufacturer and they could steer you in the right direction...IMO all in all to achieve a GOOD sound, im sorry to say is very subjective...talk to a pro do you want to keep it passive?
 14. i dont know you but i hate you all the same..
 15. im not a mustang guy but that is really amazing...never played one but ive heard there very versatile...
 16.
Hello, I'm in a middle of a project (build D.I.Y. P/J B 34 scale) Witch combination of pups and why ??? Thanks in advance RR
The obvious combo is J pup bridge and P pup neck...cant see any advantage swapping them around because of the nature of the pups and position...what about 2 jazz pups on the neck and a P bass pup at the bridge..would love to experiment...so many variables..and not just the pick ups..
 17.
A lot of Chic's stuff was a '76 Stingray armed with flats. I don't know about those two particular songs. The dead sound could also be the result of a foam mute(s), or good technique. I find it's always easier to get a dead tone from flats than the other techniques though. Contrary to what a lot of people assume, there's a big difference in tone between a bass strung with rounds with the tone rolled off and the same bass strung with flats. There's also a lot of difference in tone between different makes of flats. Boring post eh
Not at all Chris...i learned something...ive used La Bella Deep Talker's and loved them...but i still want the zing from round wound's because i slap from song to song...my guess is the audience doesnt know the difference between my jazz with flats on or my jazz with rounds on with the tone off though. chris have you ever tried Cocco's of any kind?..Cocco was the president of Labella at one time.
 18.
After seeing the title I was worried as to what I was going to see.
i was there writing it Wayne.. wouldnt that be a sticky..ha ha there goes another one..budum tshhhhh..
 19.
That's half of Dave Letterman's house band: Paul Schaffer on keys, Anton Fig on drums, and Will Lee on bass.
Will Lee/Sadowsky/Letterman.....i should have guess
 20. Ive got to play this live soon filling in ...spotted this version by the Black Crowes and loved it..awsome groove..whos that plying the Sadowsky? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09WlrVnramo
 21. What a bass...these often get compared to Sadowsky's...ive played both and they were on a par...the Lindy Fralins that ive tried on a fender are better pups than the Sadowsky's though IMHO.. love the contour on the heel..really makes a difference to the comfort of a bass i reckon...any Aguilar pre is smokin also.. 7.7Ib weight!!!!!....and a grand...what a bargain for a pro instrument
 22.
Definitely not flats. Looks like you just have to be really relaxed. And you probably don't need Slash to do the guitar solo.
great great tune but is it me or is it every time i see a vid of Chic live it seems a little false and commercialized? whats up with the dancers..GO AWAY!!
 23.
Aha your Andrew, I too saw you on youtube playing with them, ha ha small world. They have been through so many members! I saw a video or picture with you and a bass i did not recognise, if it had been your rather nice Sei I would have made the link straight away, not many of those in Cheltenham. The Overwater has a John East BTB-01 stacked bass/treble control with Vol/Bal. Its a good unit but I am thinking about having it changed for some more flexibility, maybe the full U-Retro Deluxe with active 'tone' control. That might give me a few more classic tones as well as the super modern. Dont you have a East Pre in your Sei?
Yeah small world bro.. Im not familiar with the BTB pre..but yeah the U Retro is a very comprehensive preamp...it is truely awsome in the Sei..to be honest it takes a bit of getting used to, and adjusting wise it should be used very sensitively..but when you know it, its very effective.. have you considered the Audere JZ3? excuse the playing in those vids, i was really ill and was a little reserved for me...this was the bass anyway...an Ostinato 4 custom...the Progress sounded killer BTW..
