Two things. Only you know whether or not you like this vintage bass enough to be interested in buying it - we know exactly zero about what you like the feel and sound of. If you want to know about vintage Fenders in terms of whether or not they're a good investment there are far wiser men round here than I but I'm inclined to endorse Beedsters earlier comment. The value of any used instrument remains as it has always been - it's worth exactly , to the penny , what someone else is prepared to pay for it.
ok thanks for the advise Dave..you have made me really think about the bass, and i have doubts..so that is enough for me

This is what im after though your amazing knowledge!! i did like it, but there is stuff i dont know about vintage jazzers that you might be able to point out....thanks

Ok im confused..this guy wants £2250 for the same yea...looks in better condition though http://www.vintageandrareguitars.com/web/o...asses/item/6740

Ok the guy said they may be 60's knobs..but im not sure... two tone??? the plate is sure old...the neck pocket has a shim down the side.. The frets are flat on top with quite alot of wear..ive got to say it plays beautifuly..stonking tone...what did they do back then that made em sound so good? im going to take the CS in next week and compare...

Do professional bassists still play at home for fun
bubinga5 replied to iconic's topic in General Discussion
Im an electrician but i can just about be bothered to sort out a dodgy ring main problem.im not a pro....but electric bass and piano..no prob...its the difference, (for me) between a job and a passion.. if a pro or anyone find's bass playing a chore to practice,(depending on your practice technique) they should cease to do it....music IMHO...touches your soul more than a job...depending on the job of course -
I would love to do something like this...where do you take this course Sarah?
There have been a few past threads on this subject. Opinions seem quite divided. Personally, I like the more expensive stuff.
Ha ha i just spilled my beer..that last bit was funny

Seems like Fender have people captured with the shape (P bass and J bass), tone, payability, simplicity...seems the only thing they lack is the prestige quality that builders such as Sadowsky AC have..even there CS range seem to be over priced for what it is....with so far nothing exciting happening in the affordable world... Exciting as they are, could the new Deluxe basses offer the magic that Sadowsky etc offer...im so glad they got rid of the (IMHO) odd shape that the old US Deluxe basses had...didnt dig that shortened lower horn look... im really keen to see what the pre amp offers.this for me is the key.....there going to have to come out with a bomb of a pre to compete with Bart/Aguilar/J East/Audere... etc on the market.. i personally have been dying for Fender to do something off the wall, like a LTD edition color range, with bindings and blocks..i can imagine that they would sell them by the thousands, i knowi would have GAS...... this is my ultimate Jazz.. pale blue, with matching headstock...white pearl pick guard, rosewood FB with pearl blocks, flame maple neck, wight binding,Bartolini JJ pups...
Anyone actually like the Jazz for it's looks alone? I know I do. That asymetrical body shape, the metal plate blended with the pickguard. Very nice! I just wish that they naturally had a bit more grunt - but that can be remedied with dirtier pickups
Well ido..i think the shape is what a bass should look like, as well as a P bass..i love the chunky shape and dont like the downsized bodies..then again i love an F Bass shape...i just think most bass luthiers take there shape from Fender and do it different...

lighter, more attack, brighter..no acoustic qualities ive heard...think you have to chamber the whole body for acoustic resonance
Up for trade is my lovely Carvin LB75P. Only trading as my custom Larkin basically has all the features of this so it's surplus to requirements. Mahogany body with maple through neck 24 fret ebony fretboard Flamed maple top with matching headstock J + MM pickups with coil tap Piezo saddles with individual trim pots 3 band EQ with passive option String through bridge 18v power with battery boxes Carvin hardcase It's in excellent condition with a few minor dings. Crappy photos here: m533.photobucket.com/albums/cgordonfreeman/Carvin%20LB75P/ And here: www.photobucket.com/cgordonfreemanbongo As for what trades in interested in, maybe a nice fretless 4 or 5 or a fretted 5 unless is was a jazz, where i'd like a 4. Actually, not sure what I want so just try me with something music related and worst I can say is no:) I'll hopefully be able to get nicer pictures soon. Any questions? Just ask. Cheers, John
no link bro

I think you have to experience a Fodera, Sei, Smith etc, to know what MIGHT, be missing from a bass of lesser value..it also comes down to how the bass is set up..personal tone preference is a big factor also..there are so many variables in an instrument...
