2. Talking of funky Zep...this is badass...love it like any funk song...they knew what they were doing these guys....amazing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1PoxTp7jIM
 3.
I think it's probably a lot easier for bands to play good rock music than it is to play funk or jazz well as a band. That's not a bad thing, just getting a good funk or jazz sound is a difficult thing to do in a pub.
This maybe depends on the band...they are no easier/harder than each other if you play and are good at that genre.....some funk is easier to play than some rock..ive played some Zep or Billy Cox and Jimi H.. and its way harder remembering the lines etc.. (although some Zep is damn funky)...if you naturally play funk its easy, but if its not your bag or you dont have the feel it may be harder... I was in a Reggae band and found it hard...but i dont listen to Reggae so that prob didnt help...
 4.
I guess kind of but all my basses are different. My stingray looks the best. Perfect shape, angles and design but the sound has never been 100% to my liking although its better now through my new Aggy cabs than previous cabs. My Warwick Corvette on the other hand looks stunning and sounds stunning but its a smaller body and longer neck which is not the most comfortable to me. Plus the sound is amazing but can sound a bit thin for heavier rock type stuff. My Fender 75 Jazz is the nicest, easiest, most comfortable bass I have ever played. However, the sound is good but not 100%. Plus the natural look is not as nice as the natural look on the Warwick. So they all have pros and cons but non are 100% perfect. If I had to pick one then it would be a close call between the Fender 75 Jazz and the Stingray.
Linus im interested to know why the 75 is not quite the 100% sound you want..im guessing the comparison between that and the SR4 is the slight thinness of low end punch...or am i wrong bro? I played an SR4 through an Ashdown for the first time in pub a while ago and it was incredible...love the low end of the SR4...what does a jazz sound like with a humbucker
 5.
Kids today....... Meh!
for sure...we need funk/groove lessons in schools...

 7.
I wouldn't say it's not as popular..... it's just that there are soooooooo many bands doing punk, indie, pub rock.......
i would say there are more people in the UK listening to rock than funk..IMHO
 8. Because its not as popular...as Dan said, MOST pub goers want to hear rock/pop...and why not, if its a good band so do i...there are lots of jazz acts/nights around depending on the city/town.... to be honest there are ENDLESS rock/indie bands out there because it really is the sounds of british pub culture...

 11.
Hey guys I don't know if this is in the right section or not..... I've had a problem with my jazz bass for a while now, and was wondering if you could help me out. Basically it sounds as if its not earthed properly when i have the tone pot turned up. Even when I have both volumes turned all the way down, if the tones turned up, theres an almighty hum :/ I've attached a recording from my iphone. Apologies for the quality, but it shows the problem. Its an extreme hum, which is doing my head in, its not healthly!!!! I'm not sure whether its a dodgy pot, or whether its a earth problem.... cheers guys Joe
Joe i take it it semi stops when you touch the strings...Grounding/earthing issue me thinks...
 12.
Personally I think there's 2 different types of "playing with feel", first off is playing riffs and melodies that you can tell come straight from the soul ( k, maybe not that, but I hope you get the idea), and secondly there's really feeling the beat and playing dead on time, even if it's strange phrasings, syncopation and all that. Take Jaco for example, to the average listener some of his phrasings might sound out of time and strange, but after a while you can really start feeling it. Both at the same time is a massive bonus though haha.
+1 Good post
 13. Looks like just a finish crack.but difficult to tell..what was it packed like..hardcase...if so it is possible he knew about it and didnt say...not saying this as gospel...ask the guy what he thinks....
 14. Nice bro...beautiful Zon! are you running it through anything?
 15. This may sound stupid but is it a possibility i have 4 string Bartolinis in my 5 string Sei....as the string spacing is a lot tighter than most? or am i imagining....im not at home so cant measure
 16. Very impressed...didnt like the old body shape...Lets see what the preamp is going to be like....that will be interesting.. ill take the 5ver in TTSB with pearl blocks
 17. Meshell Ndegeocello.....Feel dont come much better than this IMHO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VeqnL9IO-0

 20.
These were at LIMS last year and we ordered a semi Tele off them, like this: http://www.dawsons.co.uk/acatalog/farida_ftc-32.html VERY nice guitar, shoots way over it's price range. They don't sell very well though unfortunately or we'd have had more in. They're definitely very nice though.
tis a shame..thing is there are sooo many jazz copies with names that seem very generic....including Farida...i wouldnt have looked twice to be honest....i was very impressed though...
 21.
Hi bubinga5, Can you confirm the price you quoted first off? £380 doesn't match the web-site. Ta. Balcro.
hello mate....I was told £380.00 something.... and that erm...was on the price tag on the bass....cant remember exactly...the site price is not accurate for reasons i dont know...it was under £390.00 i know that much... looks like they dropped the 10%
 22. Pete can we have a full review after the gig...im starting to get Vintage jazz gas..
 23.
I think they're all kinda Jag shaped, smaller lower horn Whats the quality like? action etc Do you know what P.U.'s they use? Where they built UK/Korea etc? ....i'm semi interested myself as i'm missing having a 4 string passive jazz at the mo and can't really afford anything too pricey - i wonder how it compares to my Laky JO5....and i'd have to order online so no try before buy unfortunately. Good find though bro.
yeah i guess so...First impressions were it was light...Looked the bass over and the neck pocket was tight. and for a sub 500 its was a very well put together bass, but as always try before buy.....the bass is made in China (that always troubles me) dont know about the pups....y sh I had a USA 75 RI and i would take this over that any day....Just superb tone....ive played many top end passive jazzers and this was up with if not better than them...how do they do it? i will say that i noticed the fingerboard radius was very shallow/flat with no FB rolling... Ive heard your JO5 Lee and its very nice.would like one of those bad boys some day..i think you will like these if your looking for a budget Jazz bro...not sure how well it work with your sound though..didnt get to see how versatile it was...unless you want something funky... BTW hows Dan...you still in Steppaz with him?
 24.
Dude, seriously drop Andy at wizard a line and ask for a gaffer, seriously good split coil jazz pickup. I'm laid up with man flu but when I'm about your'e welcome to try mine out. But it might be worth seeing if he'll let you try one on approval.
Gaf i would seriously appreciate if i could maybe sometime try yours when your better...you being down the road and all. didnt get the chance to bore you with bass talk at the frog!!!
 25. They look a little like Jag's with the shorter bottom horn...
