4. I never knew Alembic did Jazz basses....one word WOW!!!... i can only imagine what these would cost? im getting big time GAS from these..there aint no jazz taper here though hey... i dig that 5...ok all of them!!
5. He he, i told my GF i was given a US 75 RI by an old friend....the truth came out in the end, it always does.....damn truth Leschirons, love the Avatar...."Ill buy this shop and fire you all"...!!!
6.
I have noticed that my newly aquired bass tends to have a slightly quieter E string output then the rest of the strings. Does anyone know of anything that can be done to make it louder?
Uzzel it may be the case that the pickup height, is not even across the strings...Also if your E string has a very low action and your digging in the lack of space can choke the string/note thus not ringing..these are the only experiences ive had..others may know of other reasons..
7. Went to Guitar Guitar today in Newcastle (which i may add had very friendly and helpful staff) to check out what stock they had in...Spotted a Sadowsky UV70, Black, Maple board 5...Plugged into a Phil Jones amp..first thoughts were what a fxxxxx tone! The slap/pop tone was the best ive ever heard to be fair.....couldnt help thinking the B was a little floppy though, i guess considering its scale this may be forgiven..But its a Sadowsky!!?? My old S5 was sooo much better...Anyone else played one...what did you think of the B string on these babies.. Ive got to say i would forgive this and buy one as i love the look the tone and 70's body size....but at over £2000.00 i would think very carefully.. i wish i still had my RV5!!!!
8. Trouble is have been in numerous bands playing numerous styles, but discovered that i only really dig playing soul jazz funk etc....and these bands are not that common where i live...
9. I am bandless at the moment which is a bummer..I have been waiting to hear from a jazz funk out fit for a while...they called this evening....They asked me to come for a rehearsal this wed night... Guess what, i cant do it because im working away for the next few weeks..im gutted...i did say to the guy in the band if he rehearsed any other time...he said not really...not really on to expect them to work to my time i know....its just very bad timing and very frustrating..... sorry for the rant
10. WOW WOW WOW...one of these days a Celinder will come up and i will have £2000 + under my bed
11. New Warwicks...anyone seen these....love the Corvette NTL LTD.....what a bass..im not a Warwick guy but if they did a Streamer in that livry i would have big time GAS......the best corvette yet.... i like anything bootsy...not sure about the single cut, but im not a fan of those anyway...
12. IMO, i dont think any instrument your buying should have a setup that ridiculously bad...everyone has there pref, but if its so bad, the shop should sort it...when it gets to spending that much on an instrument its really bad...imagine going into a bike shop and spending £1000 on a top bike and it wasnt set up properly, so it was difficult to ride... it wouldnt happen... they sell the basses they should set them up and make sure they are in tip top condition....I bought a bass on line from a shop....and a bass company renowned for bad QC and i learned my lesson...you really need to try basses as there is so many variables... in the future i know if i buy new, to play the bass... or buy second hand and get it from BC'ers who will give you an honest low down about the bass..
13. Rich i had a Fender J5 in this color...i could be wrong but i think its the rare..ish, Inca Silver...looks just like the one i traded with a BC,er...
14. PC...whats the Will \Lee like with the J/P configuration...more thump??
15. Cats whiskers...ha ha!!......Sorry bro i cant erm be bothered to work this out.....but what a Fxxxin tune...this i love..!!!!! early jazz funk groove.....this sort of music makes me pick up the bass..love the harp and the strings (or whiskers ) in this.....oh and the bass......this coudnt be more my thing.....good call bro.... and yes the key is E
16. Latin, Caribbean, Conjunto, Habenera, African, Salsa, there all related and to me rythmicaly they are similar and lovely to play... Quote>Any tips on how I can lock in? practise practice practise...own those rythms...listen to lots of this music........you could be told the step by step way of playing it, but IMHO the best way is to listen to the music as much as you can...and work out the the feel of it...
17. Amazing how much different pieces of wood can weigh HD.. to be honest i hold my Vintage close to my heart as it was my first bass and will never part with it....I may add mine could be run over (god forbid) and be intact...a very very solid bass....really well made for a sub £300 bass...
18. Mine is the Bubinga model and for a small bodied bass it was heavy..prob about 10+...Josh yes i meant it has a great rock tone...you can dial in a few though..also depends how you play it....possible to get a funk feel from a rock tone hey..
