Its no Pensa.😆 but wow the build quality is the best ive ever seen. It pretty pointless me babbling on about how good it sounds. Aguilar obp3 through those Aguilar doubles. It sounds good to my ears.
I went to Bass Direct today expecting to buy a Lakland 5502.it was sold. So i looked around and spotted a Nordy. .I really wanted to stay away from the JJ pickups as they never really have the heft that i like in a bass. This bass has Aguilar Super Double soap bars. an Aguilar OBP3 preamp. It sounds monstrous. It still has the Jazz bass sound but its just way more variable. No flashy top wood, its light. It sounds killer. The build quality is pretty spectacular as are the matching knobs. Its a Nordy.
You had a shop unsetup dud maybe.?. 😆 . I love the finish he does on his instruments. I cant say I know them very well because I've only played one.but it was a really lovely instrument. The neck was not Lakland perfection but man it was a cool sounding Jazz bass.
Well there is a Pensa for sale on Talk Bass. I like to be understated but this instrument. WOW. I played a blue sparkle 5 string Pensa once at the Bass Gallery and it was something really special..As soon as I picked it up it felt resonant. They are in Sadowsky NYC prices so unless I sell my Suhr and car I can't have one. for now.My bucket list bass is a Pensa.
Always blown away by his playing. I don't think I've heard anyone play like him. Expressive, unique. A great 70's Jazz bass tone. Although I think he's got some EMG's in that bass to give it that extra hifi clarity and punch.
Never played a P Bass. Tell a lie, I played a JV P for 30 seconds and a Yamaha bass with a P pickup once. Strange really, after 17 years not one P bass. Its possibly going to be a revelation when I do.
