1.
i have been looking at getting a fender deluxe active jazz bass (mexican) as i think there great value for money http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/fender-jazz-bass/547 however i was wondering if there was any other basses that anyone has played who thinks they are better??
Bro if you can play before you buy..this is soooo important...you really need to hear a bass before you buy.. this will pay off in the long run..i have made educated guesses on basses but not always been right..
2. Alan not again, your killing me with this.
3. What would you go for if it was in front of you...im going to buy a super jazz..(i got GAS see) just wondering what you guys/gals would go for..Ok i know this is subjective, but what instrument do you think comes out on top.. Or is it so close that its hard to disipher? Alleva Sadowsky Mike Lull Low End Celinder Nordstrand Dingwall feel free to add
4. WOW andrew why are you getting rid of 7 basses???
5. lovely, just lovely basses and rig..love the 5 Shuker..
6. WOW..2 years in its case?? I cant get enough of mine...Is the Sei not working for you? Sei basses are so worth what Andy's asking for it..they really are up there with Celinder's, Alleva's, Sadowsky's, etc.. Best bass for sale here at the mo.. Someone will be blown away.

8.
I didnt know i could,have they got a website.
Yes mate.. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...lists/Home.html Mark is a very nice man too...he will sort you out at a competitive price im sure.. What jazz are you putting it in? have you considered new pups too...i put nordstrands, and a circuit called a redeemer, in my CS, and its blown me away!....It wont change your Jazz tone at all, just make it 10 times better, believe me.its that good.....cheaper too.. Just ask mark, he knows his stuff that man..Hes on Basschat too..
9. Why dont you get one from Mark at bass direct?
10. Ok im a jazz bass man, but lately ive been playing alot of soul funk, and if found that the stingray 5 is just amazing for this stuff...the music calls for alot of damping, and just a groove.. but when i lay off the damping, the Stingray just gives me an amazing growl... i have always thought(if you like the S5 tone) that the S5 is the best production 5 string available today..way better than any Sadowsky or high end bass... the single humbucker is soooo cool to hear...i really think that a S5 is as good as an Alleva C, a Fodera.. the tone is superb, with such a character... anyone who hasnt played a S5 needs to play/hear one...seriously good bass..
11. this is a Fender Jazz 24 fret in cherry burst, bassline pickups, ash body, rosewood board...a wonderful bass...i got the tobacco version and it is seriously good.. amazing growl..ive got some good basses and this £600 bass is up there with them.. why Fender stopped these is beyond me??...inconsistent quality is its only downfall..but when you get a good one, it seriously rocks..
12. Only you can say that mate..there about £600 new.. Awsome bass for the money though. i had the same bass and it had fantastic growl..
13. wow, what a great price Lemmy, this was my first bass...great basses..still play mine now.. have a bump...
14.
And you're suggesting that they buy new really expensive tools just because their old ones are a bit dull? No, just sharpen them. I don't really like this argument because you always get people who complain that their guitar or whatever is holding back their ability which is just not true at all because there are so many people who became amazing players with sh*te gear. The instrument simply does not make the player.
I wasnt suggesting anyone should go out and buy an expensive instrument?..upgrading a bass is a great option..i have tricked up basses too..just to a tone i like to hear... Yes your right, there has been many an amazing bassist who became great from inexpensive gear, but as they grew as musicians, they may have felt that the quality of the instrument needed to get better with them...i can bet most pro's didnt stick with there first budget instrument throughout there career.. each to there own..its what YOU like to hear.
15.
To Ou7shined....So when you bought a new 'better' instrument, you became more inspired to improve your technique,so you have to practice to improve. The instrument gave you the inspiration to improve, which i said can happen in an earlier post. To Gremlin Andy...... You say that you SPECIFICALLY ruled out my argument, but then go on to say that "given the *SAME* player, that player is UNDESPUTEDLY served better by a better instrument". This is where my argument lies.I don't think it is undisputed. The player may not necessarily be better served on a better instrument. Would Jaco have been a better player on a 'boutique' bass than on a stock Fender? No..He'd still play like Jaco. Once again,I like and own 'Boutique' basses, but I will maintain that ultimately the player is more important than the instrument.
yes but a better carpenter he/she will become with sharper tools
16.
:thu: 99.9% of the average audience don't know a bass from a guitar, and the only people who really give a damn anyhow will be other musicians looking to make themselves feel better by doing down your choice of gear...
yes your right, but thats not the point... I dont buy expensive instruments for the audience..( and i think i can speak for some others) i like to play higher end basses for me, and the way they feel and sound when i play them...i can get a much better tone (that I, like to hear) out of a higher end bass from the sum of the parts.. it spurs me on to play better, when there is a fantastic tone coming from the instrument.. And ive never come across any musicians/bassist's who put down others gear to make themselves feel better...
17. Is this a keeper then rich? You sure now? ^_^
18. Also called open mic nights,,Can be a little daunting at first...but its the best way to learn how to improvise...im going to an open mic night with lots of jazz musicians..cant wait because i will learn so much from more advanced musicians.. It really is playing on the fly..
19. Not sure but ive heard he spent a huge amount on the album...maybe he wanted there different styles for different tracks...he had an obbsessive attention to detail..
20.
