1.
Can you put up some pics of the Ostinato headstock as well? Also what does the Ostinato weigh? Thanks
10bls matey..check this out. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...amp;hl=ostinato
2. My CS is the best passive Jazz ive ever played..Then again my old Jazz 24 was superb too..
3. Lovely collection you got there Muzz..Especially like the Jazz and the fantastic Goodfellow..Is it a GF Classic?
4. Been there...invited to a jam once, got out the Sadowsky, and the guitarist said, nice Fender didnt know they made fives. Drummer was good but couldnt form any sort of groove as the guitarist had his 100w Marshall on full with maximum distortion..the guy didnt have a clue what he was doing musically, and any chords he did know were just a god awfull screaching mess.. He asked me if i wanted to write some stuff together..i said a polite no.. Another time is when we rehearsed a guitarist for a Reggae outfit..he pulled out his £3000.00 PRS, and a effects board, no lie, about a metre wide..Then started playing bluesy stuff over Declaration of Rights Riddim.. Im very funny when it comes to guitarists and this is why.
5. Emailed Ishibashi about buying a White Moon JJ4 and was told they dont have stock, and strangely they dont deal with them.. Any one know of any Moon dealers? Thanks
6. Have you tried just turning the tone down..i had a 62 RI jazz and the pickups were VERY hot....vibrato was just a noise on it..i just rolled off the treble..
7. Bump. had some interest on one of these Jazzers...
8.
Thats a nice bass and a very good price any more info on the company?
Its a bit of a mystery bass..I bought it from the Gallery..i asked for more info on the bass but they didnt know either..i have seen only one other Ostinato, it was a Vintage Jazz style. ive got a hunch the company were/are european.. I have played alot of high end basses and this bass although not known is easily up there with them..The problem is its not a well known name, so obviously it scares people off.. I have put this up before at a higher price but it didnt go, and lack of history with the bass is prob why..I took a bit of a gamble when i bought it and paid off..Smoking bass. for £450.00 you WILL NOT find a bass anwhere near as good as this..
9. Decided to sell this as im gassing for something.. FENDER USA JAZZ V...STILL AVAILABLE Rare Inca Silver Awsome growly Jazz tone... a few dings here and there...Really nice instrument.......£500.00 ONO!!!!! Ignore the Ostinato Jazz, this has gone..
10. Yes that Lalah track is superb Ped, good call.. Love this, Marcus with Meshell Ndegeocello... lovely picking at the start, but some beautiful slapping after, you can so hear that MM tone.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r63PfJiEDq4 This is one of the best simple (fit the song slap bass lines) ive ever heard, tis a small detail, but check the chromatic climb to E at 0.22. .Little bits like this i love..amazing...just fantastic.. Marcus sessioning for Luther Vandross Oh my simple mind.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KraIB1z0aac
11. I have heard so many examples of Marcus doing in the pocket stuff, i love it when he stretches his bass playing myself..dont forget, for most of his career he has been a session player...what is the guy waffling on about at the start?? i felt for him he sounded very intimidated... Ok its Marcus Miller but it sounded very awkward!.. Not sure if its a sign of a truly great bass player, hes a professional session musician..his profession is to play to what the song requires.. Marcus is very versatile, and any wild stuff he may play has always been in a solo context, and very musical..i see nothing wild in it... Have to say though bloody loved the singing and the tune, wonderful..
12.
I think I asked about that moon and recieved a very polite email saying the neck was warped. Btw dude I'm playing the frog n fiddle on Sat if you're about.
Oh cool, im in Cheltenham sat, i will come and say hello...Played at the Vine and swan over the last month..Man the Vine was a squeeze!! Out of interest Gaf, did they offer to order you one, or could you have done..??
13. Has anyone ordered a bass from Ishibashi. if so what is the proceedure? Ive seen a white Moon J4 im interested in at 89.000 yen. this is about £550 roughly, what do i pay on top of this and roughly how much am i looking at all in? Thanks for any help..
14. Yeah i heard this interview..Really good stuff..Was interesting to here that Nile and Bernard turned down the producing of a Rolling Stones record, becauase they thought everyone would think the RS would get the production recognition and not them.. ironically im betting that not that many people know that they produced Sister Sledge's We are Family..
15.
I think my Sadowsky sounds decidedly dodgy by itself.
I have never heard a dodgy sounding Sadowsky, unless its (not suggesting you are) EQ'd very badly
16. A Sadowsky isnt a Jazz bass..Its Sadowsky's take on a Jazz bass. there is no point in looking for that classic tone...If you want that buy a Fender Jazz?! This bass might not have been set up right..My old Sadowsky was a tone monster, the preamp is superb...Just because a bass is shaped like a Jazz bass doesnt mean its going to sound excactly like one...People put too much expectation on Sadowsky... Your only shocked becauase it didnt sound like a Fender Jazz..I will bet all my basses, that the Sadowsky was way better made than the Fender, superior hardwear, better pikups, thats why its more expensive
17. Ive been into Incognito since JazzFunk came out, been to see them multiple times, and they have never let me down.. just sounds like a bad soung engineer....Nearly went Sat, too short notice for me
18. Is that URB's Sei jazz for sale at the gallery?
19.
Exceptional looking bass, B5! Years ago I remember seeing something on TV that followed the building of a Sei Bass for a pro female bass player. I can't remember the programme or indeed the name of the bass player (Gail Ann...? Yolanda...? Aired maybe late '80s, early 90's? any help here welcomed) but I have to say, since seeing that programme and how Martin Petersen came across even then, Sei Basses have always been my #1 bass to aspire to. Seeing the pics of your Sei Jazz has just further reinforced that aspiration.
I remember this program S5, but like you i cant remember who it was, ive got a feeling it was Yolanda Charles.. Yeah same price range as Sadowsky NYC's not sure about AC's but there way overpriced IMHO..
20. yes a US 5 string jazz..any ideas?
21. i feel bad now PETD..yeah hes enjoying himself...thats what music is about, good or bad..well said
22. i think its about 8 BB..weighs less than my 4 string Fender
23. Im posting this to give props to Martins work..i know why 7string, sshorepunk,Urb and others dig these instruments Some have seen this (and ive waffled on about this bass) ..but here are some proper pics..this really is the most capable bass ive ever played..Light as a feather, everything about says play me.. I play alot of funk/jazz and it is so in its element when it comes to this stuff...fast gospel runs are so smooth to play, and no matter how fast you play the bass (with the U Retro) it will give you the cleanest punchy sound...., digging in funk gives an amazing tone like you wouldnt believe, and fast fingerstyle disco just makes you want to play more.. What i love the most is the vibrato sound it gives...just something else.. the original passive tone is great through the Agy, but when you flick the switch and EQ it right, it just makes you smile...i recently have been jamming with some seasoned jazz musicians and they adore the tone of it..., ive gigged it 3 times and bass players have asked what bass it is..dont all bassist know about Sei..?? Ive heard people say on here that high end custom basses help you play better, and its true! ive played Sadowsky, F Bass, Nordstrand, Skjold, and this bass. (ok maybe just for me) has got something else...Always amazes me how talented people like Martin are??..how do they get to this level of there craft????????? Boggles the mind...Passion and years i guess.. I wouldnt give up this bass for any AC.. I would love to play some of you guys non jazz SB's.. Thanks Barrie..you sold me more than you know.. PS...i really dothink ABS make the best bridges of all of them.just superb..there is no direction i cant adjust my strings...
