1. If i want to buy an instrument from a shop, its for that reason only...I want to hear the lows and highs of the bass as well as everything im going to be using the bass for...I find it a little embarrassing when people go into music shops and show off there chops...Your there to audition a bass not audition for the shop staff Nothing makes me cringe more than hearing someone play slap.QUOTE>>>> I know what you mean but If i slap its because i want to hear what the bass sounds like slapped..Dont know how else you would find that out??
 2.
Hey thanks. Had a look on their site. Nice looking bass...the soundclips sound great. I might have to look into a Lakland. Thanks. How do passive elecs handle a low b? Is it something I dont need to even worry about? Ill also take a look at these! I agree on the AC. Im mainly a 4 string man...so the AC will 99% be a 4 string. Lots to think about on that one, and also whether its an AC, or a Sadowsky. Does anyone have experience with Sadowsky Metro 5's? This looks stunning! http://www.sadowsky.com/media/metro/thumb/...W-ALD-5-3TB.jpg Thanks
Sadowsky...in a word awsome, better than anything mentioned here IMHO, expensive now mind, Your looking at the igh end of £1800.. I used to have an RV5 and the tone was supreme among basses
 3. A lot of kids want to be bass players because of his work. Isn't that a good thing too? QUOTE>>>>> In my opinion...yes thats great!! as long as they dont emulate him in a way that may take away from there style that could be there own...I have learned many a lick from amazing players along the way, but its important to keep your own thang.. i appreciate players who cover great bass players tunes, but for god's sake dont ask me...."how can i get the tone of"....your YOU, good or bad..important thing is your original..
 4.
Probbaly just the response of the cabinet making the higher notes less defined.
should this happen Sparticus..? urely not... What can i do if this is the case?
 5.
It'll even out the peaks and troughs in your playing. Might help even out between the high and low, might of course be barking up the wrong tree.
Well ive been wanting to get a EBS multicomp...BLoody hell my knowledge of amps etc is so bad.. Thanks anyway bro..
 6.
Perhaps a compressor is what you need?
Please explain Merton...I shouldnt need a compresor should i? Surely i should be able to hear my highs without it??
 7.
Errr, nope thats horsep***....... Nothing uncool about slapping a bass, if you do it really really really funky. The likes of Mr King however gave it a very very bad name indeed (esp in various old school funk circles). Damned shame!
I agree, dont get me wrong i love L 42 but he did do it too much, and didnt let the music breath...Bloody awsome talent mind... Im curious about Wolstenhome...me not being into this kind of stuff...Ive heard alot about him and was curious to how good he is.??...Cant seem to find anything on YT? I may be wrong but were not talking Gospel bassist good??? I take it he doesnt slap.
 8. Have never seen him do this, wondered how good it would be but i wasnt dissapointed ..Tis very good indeed.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qji84EgLEio...feature=related
 9. I seem to be having difficulties with the high end volume on my Amp/Cab...The amp is an Aguilar 500sc and the cab is a agy 212..I used to think it was one of my basses, but it seems to do it with every bass.. .For example last night on a Stingray5 i was playing with everything dialled in to the middle. i was getting loads of punch from notes on the B E and A string but when i play up high it just seems to loose volume and its really frustrating..I know its not the strings choking, the tweeter dial on the back of the cab is on full the mids and treble on the Amp are up.. Its like there is a limiter on the amp stopping the highs from being played loud I really can not work out what is going on..I want the same volume across all of the strings...It might be something really obvious but i cant see it? Any help much appreciated..
 10. Just wanted to share this..Maceo Parker with band..Just amazing funk this..Knowone does it like Maceo..Jerry Preston on bass is superb, you couldnt get more in the pocket.. Is that an old BC Rich hes playing? sounds bad ass! Not that noticable but i love the subtle organ behind everything.... 11.
Looks really nice - very Ken Smith(ish)? I also wanted to say that if anyone is at all wary of trading with NP becuase he's based in Finland then they needn't be. Aprt from being a really nice guy he's 100% reliable to deal with. I actually bought quite an expensive bass from him & he shipped it over to me before I'd even paid any sort of deposit. In fact it actually arrived at my house (perfectly packaged) before my money transfer had gone through
Thanks Barrie.. I may be interested in this so that put me at ease!!
 12. Is this the bass that was once owned by Julian Crampton? Glad to see it back in good order by the way!!!!

 15.
thinking about buying a new bass and have always liked the look of the marcus miller jazz but.... have read they are fantastic if you play mostly slap but not so good for finger style rock/pop and so on have any of you owners or ex-owners on here got different opinions on this? am looking for a low action and a bass with decent low-end also, any opinions on the geddy lee jazz would be welcome as i am also interested in that too cheers mark
Mark...I wouldnt say the Miller jazz is not good for fingerstyle...I would say its good all round..I cant speak for the Geddy Jazz, but i have heard good things...If you can, play both..then decide.. PS. the low action depends on how the bass has been set up from where you have bought it from..You can adjust this without too much trouble...Loads of info on the net about doing this... All the best..

 22.
I like all of these! I've got a stack of Acid Jazz albums I picked up free when a friend of mine worked at MoJazz for a while. Must dig he out & see what I have buried away My favourite BNH song was always the full 8 minute version of Dream Come True. I can't find the full version on YouTube (there are a couple of versions but one sounds like it was recorded through a sock & the other has glitches part way through). Here's a live version with the bass quite high in the mix, still not the best sound quality but quite watchable:
Love it Barrie.. By the way, looking forward to the Sei matey.....should be middle next week..Very excited!!!!!! Was listening to the sound samples and the bridge pup is killer...Roll that of a touch and im in tone heaven..Speak soon..
