That jazz is sweet!!!...Why do i love the look of a Jazz so much... Oh thats why..

Any opinions on these types of strings...Im in two minds..I love the zingy sound from Stainless, but the feel is very tacky to my fingers sometimes (especially when the humidity is high)...But i love the feel of Nickles (i love the smooth feel) but the tone is not so bright...I do love a bright sounding string that has been played a few times, and has the edge taken off it... My choice strings have been Elite's Stainless for a while now, as they have a great bright/modern sound to them... I also like Labella Flats for flat wounds. Is there anything in the middle of the two?? What are Elixers like?

If you were to choose any active pick up set to go into a passive Jazz bass (without a pre amp) to replace a Single Coil set, what would you go for and why...Something hum cancelling... Interested to know what you all think about differences in tones between brands? EMG Nordstrand Bartolini Wizard Villex any other suggestions?

After the unfortunate disagreements, in another thread....Some of you may have seen this bass, and some i know have owned this wonderfull instrument.. The best Jazz ive ever played, wonderfull tone...Just feels great to hold and play..Only 100 ever made!!!......Thought i would post some proper pics.. PS, i do hope there are no hard feelings about the bass....

Thanks mate.[/quote] Well even though i did offer to trade, i will say its pretty awsome, you can have a Fender sound, if you fiddle and put it in passive mode..Or you can make the most of the Sadowsky pre amp, which is something special..Very very light for a five string aswell.. I keep uming and aahhing about my basses..I need to shut up and enjoy them..

Great Analogy that CK posted in the sticky.... A useful analogy for the understanding of impedance is that of a water pipe and pump. The pipe diameter represents the impedance of your loudspeaker; the water flowing through it is power and the water pump is the amplifier (or receiver) itself. The pump pumps water through the pipe. A large diameter pipe allows a large amount of water to flow. This is a low impedance situation: the large pipe does not impede the large flow of water. A small diameter pipe allows less water to flow. This is a high impedance situation: the small pipe impedes the flow of water, keeping it small. Low impedance, large flow of power; high impedance, smaller flow of power. I'm trying to keep it simple, folks. Stick with me. Ultimately, this will help you better choose your electronics for optimum performance.

Im not technically minded, so hear goes..I played on thursday night at a local night..I was using an Aguilar GS 212 with a aguilar 500sc...After sound check i let the another bands bassist use my amp..As he started playing i noticed the amp was constantly clipping..He was playing a stingray HH and slapping the hell out of it... My Q is why was the amp clipping? Was the (so called) Gain to high? As i said i dont know alot about amps but im trying read up on it... Am i right that ideally you should be using a cab or cabs that are roughly double the wattage of the amp?? I have been thinking about getting a single 12" cab of about 300 watts power handling to add to the 600watts of the GS 212, to give me more head room..( i know this is not the reason for the clipping) Also what is the best cab to add to a 2x12?
