http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA2lwHQXYKo Perri, a hard to get album with Nathan East on bass..They used to be on backing duties for Anita Baker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qod4PuUmhOc And for me the master on bass..Dale Black...you have to see/hear the jam he gets going with the drummer..i love his chordal work at 8.40..Incredible...I think this guy is as good in the groove if not better than Wooten, Gouche,....IMHO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ThwuJVcyoA
Are they custom luthier built ones to order? Or are they luthier stock basses? Either way, looks lush.
Buzz..they used to be Pensa Suhr..Being John Suhr and Rudy Pensa,, Rudy has a very famous shop in times square in NYC, thats been there for 30 years +..Jaco and Jimmi Hendrix bought guitars there apparently.. He is a custom builder, but has lots of stock of his Pensa jazz basses at, Rudys Music Stop..their on line.. as well as loads of other vintage Fenders, Ritters, Lulls, Warwicks etc... I think every luthier has stock basses somewhere, as well as built to order... Just to give you an idea.. Lou Reed, Christian Mcbride, Mark Knopfler and Victor Bailey are players of his instruments..

Hopefully the end of next week P..its been in the shop for a long time, so i guess needs setting up to what i specified.. Seeing as it was made in 2003, i thought it may have been played in the shop alot, but apparently its been behind glass all the time..

My name is Bubinga5 and im a Jazz Bass addict..I just ordered this from Rudy Pensa at Rudy's Music Stop in New York, and im bloody excited about it..Wanted to share.. I really wanted to get a Celinder, but they are just to expensive!! i have been looking at this bass for a few years, and always liked it..A bit ostentatious, but hey.. i have been speaking to an independant source who has played it, and she said it was killer.... Alder Body, Flame maple top, Ebony FB, Bart pups, Mid switch.. it advertises as a Bart pre, but Rudy told me he has fitted a Pensa pre amp.. Proper photos coming soon..
I haven't come across the latin song yet but loving Lighthouse from the self titled album at the moment. I was in Miami last year & we went out for a drive on the Sunday morning & I found a great gospel station on the radio. It was a convertible with a decent quality stereo & we got a few funny looks in some of the darker parts of the outer suburbs as we were two very white people cruising around with gospel blaring out at full volume Put me in a great mood all day from what I remember. . .
cant find Light House?
Theres far too many to name who could've been on it instead, Dale Black is briliant though. Will do man, I just hope their not too Religious that it's too hard to even pay attention to the bass.
Yes the lyrics are about Jesus obviously, but i dont really care, because the music is so powerfull (although i cant help but think there faith is what makes the music so full of amazing energy) But i really dont mind the lyrics, its never 'in your face religious ranting' its just great musicians making great music with a religious content... They could be singing about drinking beer and melting plastic, and i wouldnt care The bass playing is sublime. i wonder what hes playing?? I can be be in a real crap mood, and this brings me up every time.. Molan i love the Latin style tune they do called 'Jump get Excited' Amazing stuff....

Dont forget Dale Black..He is incredible.... Thanks for that Josh..I love my Gospel/Urban Gospel..I gotta be honest the noodlers bore me to death, where is the groove??? Im a little puzzled as to why there in the vid?.Certainly nothing to do with Gospel...There bass playing is more about them, than the music!!... I could listen to Gouche's groove all day long!! PS please check out a band called 'New Direction' (i cant stress enough, how good there album is)

I have a Fender Jazz 75 RI.Although i love the tone i would like to improve it somewhat..Was wondering if i fitted maybe a Badass II bridge, would it make alot of difference to the tone??? Would the badass fit my 75? Thanks..
-
Any Modulus owners out there..I am curious to know what the tone is like on J4..I have heard they can sound a little brittle and lack warmth because of the carbon neck..is this true?
-
I have heard her say it..its Meshell- eNdege-ocello
-
What sort of cash are we talking for a new J4 update??..Prices seem to vary.. Have seen some for 1900.00 in for sale section, but there was one J4 (M Ndegeocello,s ex bass) going for 3500.00.. My budget is £3000.00 maybe a little more

Wanted to share this. IMHO this is the best in the pocket bass playing i have ever heard.. no chops, fills, runs,, just awsome feel, electric bass..Above all,. i love her ghost/percusive notes ,,any notes she plays, are set up so well by the amazing percusive touch she has!! If you dont dig this you dont get groove..IMHO..and that Jazz sounds so good!! The best groove player alive today http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VeqnL9IO-0
Have a look at Billy Sheehan's signature Yamaha Attitude II bass! It's passive too! Be careful when deciding on a bass with active/passive switching basses. Some circuits still drain your battery even when running on passive mode, go for a true bypass to avoid it. You can have that modification put in if needs be!
Great. i didnt know this.. also the battery drains,on an Active bass when your playing obviously ,,but also when you leave your 1/4 inch jack lead in when standing..even when not in use the jack plug opens the circuit, so is then using your expensive 9V..
Wow... I have to confess I never looked at the Deluxe series for if I'm not mistaken they're made in Mexico and all the standard MIM Fender's I've played felt and looked really cheap... That looks better done than my American Deluxe though, what the...? So those who have owned it recommend it both in tone and build quality? Is it made in Mexico or am I totally wrong? EDIT: Ok, that one apparently is made in Korea? One more surprise to me, I thought Fender were made in US, Japan and Mexico only... the ones from Japan were actually quite good so I'm guessing these won't disappoint... But after my experience with MIA Fender, my feeling being that all other countries with the cheaper basses have even less stringent quality control, I'm still a bit uneasy with getting another Fender...
...Fender have had a varied rep across the board in time,i have played a early 75 jazz that was amazing, but an earlier 60's bass that that was not so good... some MIA are not so good, some are amazing.. some MIM are good and bad, from my experience CIJ/MIJ are usually very good, i generally think any bass (like my Sadowsky and Yamaha TRB6II) made in Japan, are supreme in craft..manship, they really put out quality....... Korean Jazz 24's have had quality issues..i,...by luck had a good one, and it was very good..i think for what you get, there is not a better bass but im sure there may be better(depending on mass production issues etc)..IMHO get the Jazz 24, its everything you want.. Good luck bro
