  1. `I really think he learnt how to play like that from his upright bass and years of walking basslines. I think he had mastered his craft when he was playing his P bass on his back drunk playing in the Motown studios.
  2. 😂 . Yes im embarrassed . Of course its brilliant. Sorry I thought you were being sarcastic.
  3. But don't blow smoke up his bum hole. Tell us how you really feel YouMa.
  4. The Tom Robinson band weren't for me im afraid.
  5. Specifically this Jackson's record. When I first heard this I was blown away by the bassline. The chromatic lines he plays in a lot of stuff is so fantastic. Love the way he surrounds the chords with that bouncing bassline. There is not a boring note he plays. Its always something interesting and so for the music.
  6. He could play a wash board and it would still sound good.
  7. Dwayne Thomas Jnr is a beast of a player. Hes fantastic on the Gospel Chops DVD.
  8. Freddie Washington buddy. And thank you . I should add that im no different from any other people/bass players on BassChat in there great musical taste. The difference is I post (annoyingly to some maybe) more music than most members.
  9. Ive been listening to this genius since his first album. And yes he sounds like Donny Hathaway. My favourite fantastic music.
  10. As title. In perfect condition. Best octave pedal available imo. Tracks amazingly well. Comes with a Roland 1 meter lead. No box unfortunately as the dog ate it. Will be packaged very well. Its in as new condition and with a brand new £15 Roland lead.
  11. We must have both been listening to radio 2 at about 2.30 pm then bud. 😁
  12. No other reason to post this record than I love it. Wonderful record imo.
  13. Lovely Status Jazz bass he's playing.Short but Interesting info on how he came up with a few early bass lines.
  14. Listened to this earlier after a while of hearing it, apart from being such a fantastic record, the bass playing is so great. Fits the feel of Eltons song so well. Holds the groove perfectly and and plays such great passing notes between the roots, as well as the subtle 16th notes now and again.
  15. Nick Smith, with Dwayne Thomas Jr (aka) Mono Neon.
  16. The Barts are long and short like a Fender set. 95mm at the bridge and 92 mm at the neck. Any ideas as to what options I have.?
  17. As the title says. It sounds wonderful, plays great. East pre, and Barts, Don't get me wrong I love Bartolini's, but they are sounding a little polite and dark for what I want now. Passive the bass has quite a woody soft tone set flat, which is strange because it has the woods that make up a Fender Jazz bass in passive. Swamp Ash Body, Brazilian rosewood FB, maple neck. So I can only assume its down to the pickups. These are15 year old Barts btw. The strings are DR High Beams, so I can take the strings out of the equation. Also the sustain is not so good. They have to be single coil. I prefer the single coil tone from hum canceler pups and I dont record the bass anymore so the hum doesn't bother me. Ive been looking at the Lindy Fralin 5 string set or Aguilar's 5J 70's pickups. The bass in question. Any thoughts.?

I see way more Fodera,s for sale than Pino,s.
  19. Bobby Vega has my favourite type of unique style of any bass player.
  20. The thing is I did find a very good drummer and an old friend who's a monster keys guy, but there life (kids etc) are there priority, and rightly so..So they couldn't make it to rehearsals, can do that date, can't do that one. Ok lets make it this date. Ah.... cant do that date. Weeks go past. Very frustrating. Gave up in the end. On I shall plod.
  21. Maybe I need to start from scratch. Advertise for select musicians. Geographically speaking im not in the best area.
  22. Ah. sorry. Well I'm looking for a band who have a good knowledge of theory. Practice once or twice a week. Originals or covers. Playing at Festivals Clubs etc. Soul and Funk being a plus of course.
