  1. That is a bargain if ive ever seen one.. Ive owned 2 now. Pro sounding and feeling instruments are the 55-02's
  2. Think I may have seen them 12 times now with my sister and various Incognito lover's. I adore Randy's playing, especially his fretless playing on Tribes Vibes and Scribes. But Ernie Mckone's playing on this this record is up there with the best playing I've ever heard on any record ever. He is just smokin. He's all over that groove. His playing near the end of this record is just WOW... imo A Bit Like Julian Crampton on a Down to the Bone record. ✌️
  3. Thanks for the info guys. I like the Sony MDR's. Heard some great reviews. Amazon have a good deal on the Beyer 990's. Mick the little one is doing great. As are the other two little pain in the derrière Dachshunds. I used to have a pair of Beyer Dynamic DT990's but the dog destroyed them. Yes the pup nearly died that day, he also destroyed my Sadowsky strap, then I got a new one from Molan(Barrie), then he chewed the end of that one. I was stupid enough to leave them lying around. Anyways I may spend the extra and get another pair of DT990's and not get a Turkey and Goose this year for the family. so were having sprouts ,stuffing, carrots, potatoes, pigs in blankets gravy and crackers..They will just have to deal with it 😆
  4. Hey can anyone recommend some headphones for bass practice with a really long lead. I have a budget of around £50/70 roughly. The lead needs to be at least 2 metres long. Prefer if there open backed. No Beats recommendations please. Cheers.
  5. Not the album. I just love em. . They always come out with the finest. imo.
  6. I've had 3 V7s. Two 5 strings, ash and alder and a Vintage 4. I don't think there was anything wrong with the bridge or tuners apart from an aesthetic point of view. My problem was the weight. The tone of all of them was just fabulous though.
  7. Just remember without bass the music is like a house without foundation. Stand yor ground.
  8. I bought a brand new Fender 1975 RI Jazz. Put it in the hard case. (Without clipping it shut) Picked up said hard case and the bass went downwards on to the tarmac with the most horrible noise. Shocking moment.
  9. If you know your notes(especially notes) on a 4 string /scales etc. You should be able to switch between 4/5/6/7. The bass has the same notes/scales all the way up the fret board. If you don't know them you haven't practiced enough. Extended range basses are nothing to be scared of. IMO. In fact they are easier because your hand that plays the notes/ scales dont have to move as far. And they are better for your brain because your having to think ahead more. I will always be a 5 string player. Going to 4 is easier because of the pure physicality of the neck slimness, but I have to jump up the neck a lot more.
  10. Putting in a great preamp with bad pickups is the wrong way around for me. The pickups are the first contact for a good sound. A good preamp will compliment the good pickups.
  11. Not sure about second hand , but try Wizard pickups. Or Some second hand Fender USA single coils.
  12. Ive never heard of Bartolini Quarter pounders. I guess you mean Seymore Duncans. Just go for the Bartolini Original Jazz pickups. They won't dissapoint. I have them in my Sei Jazz and they smoke many others like Nordstrand etc imo.. Just make sure the size is correct for each cavity.
  13. What are Jazz Pickup rings and what are they for.?
  14. I've always loved these particular Fenders and I'm amazed why Fender dont excite the bass guitar world with basses like them since. BTW You can achieve a very low action on basses sub £500, and incredibly playable. But its your bass.you charge what you want. It would a shame to leave this bass in its case. With all respect and I know I shouldn't say it but £2400 is just way out there for a QMT deluxe Jazz. Even in brand new condition.
  15. You could probably get a second hand Sire Jazz for near the price of a new J Retro preamp. Sire Heritage preamps sound amazing. There a no brainer.
  16. Its just GAS. I love the Sei, But the Shuker's look lovely. Holy Moly.
  17. Really great Jazz basses these. GLWTS.
  18. Trust in John East. Learn how it works. When you do It's the best preamp in the business of bass preamps. Imo.
  19. An audition is when you know what your auditioning for. What songs do you want to play. They wanted a juke box on the spot. I tried to jam they couldn't. I'm out
