his playing with Jonathan Scales is just epic bass playing. 1, His finger span is just huge. 2 He rarely plays boutique basses. It either a Yamaha TRB/BB a P Bass or hid KSD 5. Or a Skyline Lakland 55-01 as seen in this.
A short groove from who I think is possibly one of the best bass players in the world today. Depending on your taste of course. Ive heard him come out with fills and grooves that IMO are better than Sharay Reed. subjective of course. The guy is as close to a virtuoso on the bass that I have seen thus far.
Rudy Pensa (used to be Pensa/Shur) can make anything you want. as long as its a Jazz Bass. But expect to pay over Alleva Coppollo prices for this sort of spec. This is a fabulously over the top bling Jazz Bass...Custom wound (for Rudy) Nordstrand single coils, with a Pensa custom 3 band preamp. Active/Passive.. Good lord.!! A snitch over £6000. Thats nearly double the cost of my Sei Jazz with its top spec if you were to order one now new.I just wouldn't take it out of the house..
Seems like a diluted version of the original. Doesn't sound like Pick Up the Pieces at all. But I suppose its not meant to being the JB's. I love them but the original is so infectious.
I can think of many bassists that play for the music. But not many who sing aswell as playing.. Alan Gorrie is just the master at this. I will be honest I think they are the best funk band/blue eyed soul band that has ever recorded said genre. Over the years I've heard endless incredible funk/grove/soul from them.. I will go as far as to say they one of the best soul/funk bands ever. I love there music that much. Seems incredible to me there roots stem from American soul and funk. A band from Scotland couldn't be this good surely.!!. The great records just go on and on with the AWB. Huge respect for them.. This track is a B side but is just killer groove funk. Its perfect for me as is the band. Lost it a little with my ramblings, but it still stands. Superb bass playing that never wanders from the groove. And that horn section.!!!
Amazon are one of the worst. Because they outsource there couriers. Ive had drivers knock on the door. If not answered within 30 seconds they just leave it on the door step in the rain. I have a very ill father in law that just can't get to the door that quickly. Ive also heard of couriers from Amazon that are under so much pressure to deliver a certain amount of parcels in one day that they don't have a break, and go to the toilet in bottles because they don't have time to go to the toilet. WTAF. !!!
I just don't use couriers to post basses full stop.Unless its in a flight case. A lot of the drivers/sorters(not all) just don't give a monkeys.. This is disgusting. Its not just UK mail either. I deal with couriers daily, and the things I see.. Opens your eyes to what goes on in one of the biggest parcel depots in the UK.
This is what my coin would be spent on if I wanted a Shuker classic looking Jazz bass. We all know this going to be an amazingly made cracking playing and sounding Jazz. SD pups. Way under budget too. Put an East Jazz pre bell plate or an Audere straight in bell plate and your into active Super Jazz territory. http://shukerguitars.co.uk/stock-4-string-j-bass/
As the title says, has anyone near me an acoustic bass I can borrow for the evening. Im in evesham. Of course it will treated with the utmost care as I treat my own gear. Im not sure if the jam will go ahead yet, but I just might need one.
I've got the Polytune Unitune. Excellent clip on tuner. Tunes a B string well. Cheap, small, swivels into any postition. Couldn't ask for more. You can ( I think) turn the display upside down if you want clip it for back of head stock viewing.
