  1. Incognito. Julian Crampton..Jacobs Ladder. Ive seen him play this live on an F Bass and it was flawless.
  2. Whats not to like. Fantastic playing.
  3. Ok not strictly a short solo in a song. But...Without doubt this from Victor is just an incredible solo/cover of Earth Wind and Fire's classic. . Obviously he's recorded 2 parts, the solo part using a filter of sorts.. The whole song is just musically fabulous bass playing from him.. The master at work Imo..
  4. The Ash was way to heavy, it was nearing 11 pounds. So I ordered the Alder, that was on my scales just over 10. It was a lot better, but just a pound to heavy. Of course these were 5vers. The White V7 4 was more comfortable. The Sei 5 is 7.5 which is perfect. Slightly smaller swamp ash body like a Sadowsky. Great to play a bass that is light that can punch like a heavy weight.
  5. I had 2 V7 5s. Maple then a Rosewood. Nothing wrong with the frets, lovely neck, construction, looked amazing. For £429 its a no brainer. But the weight. Just too heavy, its such a shame because they are such great instruments let down by one detail.. Sounded epic through Aguilar though.
  6. Sorry this is bollocks There are 100,s if not 1000,s of great bass lines since the 80s that were played on an electric bass. Or is it just the greatest basslines you like.? If it's of absolutely no importance to you what other bass players do, why bother commenting. In fact why even take part in the forum
  7. Wow 2 years. I don't think I could sit at the window waiting for the courier for that long.
  8. Heres a question. What would you have. A top of the line NYC Sadowsky,..lets say from Thomann, for 6 grand + or a Full Fat all the bells and whistles Sei Jazz built to your own spec for probably 4 grand. Oh and you can't sell either.. Just interested.
  9. The usual Marta thread always descends into pointless garbage. If she was fat and ugly this thread wouldn't even be here.
  10. How you got Bollocks past BC I'm not sure. But again I've been educated by the mighty BRX.
  11. Ahh interesting. Walbassist, I've tried that but after time tuners (I think) wear, and the tolerances when they were made decrease. There is a thing with (some) tuner's, that when you tune up a string, you have to wind down, then wind up to tune properly, ( because of the gap/slip in the cog mechanism . Ive been told by a good source that USA Ultralites have so little give in the mech that you can wind down and tune perfectly. This is not cow poop I googled it. 😁 But without joke they have had there day, and the bass deserves them, and I have some spare cash. The thing is what would suit it better.? LollyPops or Clover Leafs.?
  12. Im not sure too be honest WOT, I can't imagine Martin fitting crap tuners, but who knows, there gonna go. The Sei is gonna be spoilt with a new set. 😀.. This is why I'm confused. From Bass Direct. I know I want chrome but what are the size measurements revering to. I guess its the the stem length.? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Hipshot,_Ultra_light_Tuners.html
  13. Looking put some new tuners on the bass. But I'm not sure if Hipshot Ultra light would be a direct ( measurement wize) replacement. I'm not even sure if these are Hipshot on the bass. It's quite an old Sei so what Martin put on it I'm not sure. I've had the strings off and they do wobble a little. Bushes wearing.? Who knows. Anyways I'm aware they do a lollypop design and the clover design. Not sure which one would suit. ? In fact I know nothing about reverse/ratio tuners etc etc. Any info would be great. What do you guys recommended.? Cheers.
  14. Interesting. Warwick Custom Shop are all CNC machined, the neck is shaped by a computer, and neck radius is made by a computer. Even the frets are put in by a machine/computer. This is Custom Shop Warwick. The only thing done by hand is the final sanding of the neck and body. The electronics, and the hardware, the fret dressing. Im not knocking them, but its interesting to see how they are made.. . Its obvious that the machines work faster, are more precise and are more cost effective. But where does the money go.? into the factory etc etc, the CNC machines.? I find it genuinely interesting of how the manufacturing process has evolved when it comes to making instruments. It seems strange to me that a Custom Shop instrument that is suppose to be really special and a lot of it hand crafted is made in this way. But I guess Warwick are a big company so have a bigger turnover than say John Shuker/Sei/GB
  15. Its probably a good marketing strategy to make a few more euros, but for a maker of fine instruments like Warwick has done for many years, I think it looses them some respect. To say some clown might hand over 5k for it doesn't look good for the Warwick brand. Imo.. They should have built it as a one off, and not tried to sell it. But I will add at least there being experimental, by the look of some of there custom shop instruments.
  16. 5k is an expensive bit of fun. Its not like its a marketing gimmick... There actually trying to sell it.?
  17. Without doubt the stupidest marketing of a relic bass I've ever seen. I find it quite insulting that a company like Warwick would ask that much money for a piece of crap like that, and try and pass it off as "yeah but its new old". Shocking. I wonder what the warranty is on it. Its not like the Corvette is a really old bass, (introduced in 92) so why make a relic of it.? And more importantly, how on earth after this massive battering did the neck survive and look brand new.?? Bloody stupid
  18. CameronJ you might like this. These guys are just superb. In my top 5 favourite albums of all time.
  19. Yes it would seem so Cameron. Its beautiful music Imo. .Ive seen them live with Cory Henry at the Cheltenham Jazz fest. Had the pleasure to meet both of them at a club in Cheltenham.
  20. I gave a stinky poo ago when I realised music is music. Taste really doesn't matter.
  21. We are all so wonderfully different.
