I just bought a Sire V7 5. Alder/ rosewood. One of the best Jazz basses I've ever played. The preamp just sounds epic.. Watch the ash ones though. I had an ash 5ver and it was heavy. It' the reason I went for the alder. It's hard to get your head around the price. Mine was £426. Delivered.

When using an 8ohm 112 cab, (for convenience on small rehearsal) with a 600w amp your only getting 300 watts right.? What are you listening for, so you don't blow the speaker.? Or is it the amp that can get damaged.?

A subjective question no doubt. ! A reasonable amount of ability involved of course. But really important things to think about, for a good bass player, is reliability, and a good attitude.. If I were to hire a bass player, I would want these. You don't need to have incredible chops to be a great bass player.

Early Maceo Parker and the Macks.One of the best funk records I've ever heard. His sax, the drums, the bass, and the absolutely amazing horn section, never get old. Just to say this was always a follow on from Pete's old thread. I spoke to him when he was really ill. He said,.. Keep the funk going.

A really cool Toto cover from a young bunch of musicians. Vocally maybe it could be brought down a key for her, she's got such a great voice.. but very mature musically all of them. Imo.

Ok, so i sold my amplification for financial reason's. (That amp and cab being an AG 500sc, and a GS 212). Really loved it. Now looking to get a rig back. Just bought a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.2, but I'm clueless what cab would match it, (ohms wise, or sound wise). Some might know I like Soul and Funk, Hip Hop, if thats anything to go by.. The bass is an active 5 string Jazz, if thats anything to go by also. Ideally I would like a smaller cab to take to rehearsal's, something I can sling in the back of the car. maybe a 112, 115,? and then pair it, add later, for bigger situations.. The budget for now is £400. Then I could add the same at a later date. Second hand is cool with me also. Thanks for any advice.

Im sure people will chime in with there favourite preamp. But I would actually ask Martin what he thinks. And tell him what you like. What better man to ask. Just my op. Beautifull bass though.

Apart from some classical musicians, that are in a different league imo. Prince for me is probably the most profound musician that ive ever listened to. This is one of my favourite Prince funkers. Maceo Parker's sax playing is just.. wow.... Absolute killer funk from the man.

Im aware I've prob posted this before. But I think its worth a repost. I will skip names as many know them, especially Micheal. Outstanding for me is Jonathan Maron on that white Yamaha... He blows me away with incredible solo's and technical ability, on many a Groove Collective album and with Meshell, but can play simple groove of course. Just like this. Louis Cato's drumming is just soooooo great also.

Just pulled the trigger on a Shuttle 6.2 with Genz Benz bag from the Gallery..£400. Looks like brand new.. Thanks for the info guys.
