1. Classic. I had an early USA 75 RI and the neck was superb. The tone of it, is why I love Jazz Basses.
2.
He needed to do something interesting.....A hammer would have done it. Have to say this is the typical long drawn out kind of bass solo that was typical in the 80s full of all the self indulgent things which are practiced at home in front of the mirror instead of what he should of been practicing. No real meaningful musical content either. Its the kind of bass solo that gives the anti slap bass dept the justification to put it down. The drummer also helped by giving him no dynamic whatsoever instead choosing to play hard and loud through out forcing him to go for maximum hitting force rather than dexterity and taste. IMO of course
I gotta agree, I don't like that type of slap at all. But that man is a monster bass player.
3. And you call yourselves bass players without a nod to the masters. Maybe its a slap ting
4. Super Jazzer's just don't get any better than these imo. Just a wicked J tone on the 5 that I played. Way up there with any Sadowsky NYC etc etc.
5. Thanks guys.. Yeah the AG700 is out of range at the moment. Don't really need anything with that much horsepower either. I hadn't looked at the Techamp, thanks Mick. Im leaning toward the TH350, but I'm wondering how loud it is.?
6.
Electro shock therapy. Every time he loses his rhythm hit him with the cattle prod. He'll soon learn.
Sorry that was hilarious
7.
Well first of all you don't say it like that. I saw it as at least as much a failure for me as it was for the student.
Really?, there was me thinking, I would want to actually talk to a child like that. I was leaving it up to Owen's interpretation.
8. When do you say. Your not musical, sorry I can't teach you. ?. That must be so difficult as a teacher. My dad has had to turn (as harsh as it sounds) kids/parents away because some ears/minds just are not geared for music. No matter how much money is given to you as a teacher, it must be a little disheartening for all parties.
9. Great early DVD I've got of some great bass players discussing there technique etc. Interesting to hear how the 5 string had not been out that long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pC_uPPzyWBY
10. Im aware the tone isn't what we all want in an instrument. But it is an eye/ear opener. Its a great example of, the mind sees what we want to hear. I thought bass 1 was the Sire. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ee5J2KvuMHo
11. Im looking for a light weight head, but my knowledge is limited. My previous amp was an Aguilar AG500 and just loved it, but didn't like the weight. So thats a reference point maybe. Ive been looking at the Tech 21 VT 500 or the TH350 second hand. My budget is £500 max.
12. This is just superb. well it makes me move anyways.
13. How can you get 2 pages from this.?
14. Im surprised this hasn't been snapped up. F Clef's are awesome Jazz basses.
15. Lovely, lovely bass. But the pickups are not 70,s spacing.
16.
My work here is done!!! Sorry, only just seen this Glad you're sorted Si // Focusrite Media Relations
17. Thanks for the help guys. installed 3.7.. All working fandabydosy.
18.
If you can pass on all our best wishes and hope he returns to BC for some constructive debate it would be appreciated by many i would think. Dave
I certainly will do Dave.
19. Ok thanks guys. Yeah the Mac is only recognising built in speakers. Mix Control won't open either. So I presume it needs a software update.
20. Ive just updated my MacPro to Sierra. I have a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 running into it, but its not recognising the interface.? I can play and hear the bass, but audio/signal from YouTube isn't running through the interface. Im thinking I need to update the Saffire software.? Any ideas.?
21. Looks to me like a 24 fret with 70's Jazz Bass pickup spacing too.
22. "38mm neck and as fast as a smackhead with a giro going the post office" .
23. I spoke with Pete on the phone, Hes on Facebook Mick if you want to message him, im sure he would appreciate it.
24. Am i missing something. I havent read the whole thread properly so do correct me. My definition of choking a note, is because the string at some point along the neck is too close to the frets. Of course there is a buzz you get, but depending on the relief of the neck and also the trueness and levelling of the frets, one will get a few choked notes. A super low action will go past the buzzing point and choke a note/s.? A higher action will let the strings vibrate.? I really dont think pickup height has anything to do with it.
