1. Its got Mojo The necks been played in. If this were a 5 string I would buy it. Its got a bone nut. It was owned by blah blah Its a custom build.... Built by parts off the internet at home.
2. Awesome stuff from Lalah and Marcus with Poogie Bell on drums. Fantastic groove from Marcus and Poogie. The CD live album is epic.
3. Probably better in the relevant forum. http://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/21-other-musically-related-items-for-sale/
4. Ok. just a thought.
5. I do wonder if the term _it plays like butter" refers to Jaco who used to put butter or chicken grease on his fingers before playing.?
6. As mentioned, "its got the fastest neck I've ever played" .......and "it plays like butter Or (buttah)". What on earth are they talking about.?. Ha ha yeah and "it plays itself".
7.
I'm lucky enough to own mine already. Dint Prince have one of these.? I had been lusting after a Gus since I first saw the prototypes sometime in the 80s, and back then they weren't even making basses. I decided that if I found myself with enough disposable cash I'd treat myself to one. Now I have 3 (and a G1 Guitar). At some point I would like to swap the 4-string fretless for a 5-string version, but for now these are fine!
Didn't Prince play one of these.?
8. Maybe ask Fender to rectify the problem. Depending on where you bought it from of course.
9. Take it to a Tech. Much easier .
10.
Quite tempted by the "hard foam" gig bag/cases. They offer the protection of a hard case, with the weight of a gig bag.
Sadowsky imo make the best soft hardcase. Of course they are made by someone else. Who I'm not sure.
11. Warwick over priced. Never.
12.
You can't really go wrong with a Japanese Fender. They go from about £350 to £700.
This is what I thought until I bought a 95 62 RI. It was god awful. It was the pickups. They were out of a starter pack bass. Then I bought a non export 75 Jazz from Simon. So different. Get in touch with Dan from BassJapan. He will source you the best MIJ/CIJ Jazz bass. Japan basses is what he does.
13. I had a 4 string one of these in pink. was such a great bass. Good luck with the sale Mick.
14.
I'd love to get my hands on a really nice Alembic SC but I'm told that they weigh a ton which may mean that I'm lusting after something which I don't really want...done that a few times - 2x Wals, Ritter, 2x Warwicks... Andy just built me a dream of a bass so I'll stick with that for now... Oh BTW, Andrew hope you get better soon...
Thankyou Mick. Just one more. A dream bass for me. The one I used to own. A Sei J5 with a myrtle top, swamp ash body, Bartlolini's and a J Retro. would love to have it back. There was nothing really out there Jazz bass tone wise. It just sounded amazing. Sold it for £900 when times were tough. gutted.
15. This is the other dream bass. An early 90's Hamer Impact neck through. There are so rare. Only 12 made from Hamer. I've posted this before. Don't bother Happy Jack.
16. When I started, I was playing to a Bush tape stereo and a Vintage (brand) V4. Every night back from college. "Andrew do you want some dinner" No thanks mum, ill have it later. Press play to Incognito.
17.
A new Pensa 5 ranks as the worst bass I have ever played. I say played, but I didn't get to play it properly as it had a high fret which rendered it virtually unusable. My Fender Suhr Jazz is one that I would never sell. It's absolutely perfect (for me) in every way.
Weird, I've played a couple of Pensa's one at the Gallery and one that a friend owns. They were both epic.
18.
Are they the 70s wind NJ4s?
No there the 60's alnico NJ4's. Im aware they do an enamel wind 70's spec. The bass has a 70's tone to my ears. Probably the 70's spacing helps. Ive had the split coils before, and these are much more of an open aggressive tone. being a single coil of course.
19. Sorry Mike got me thinking, that and being ill and bored. This is mine. Whats yours.? A Pensa J5.
20.
what is the weight please?
Weighed it on bathroom scales and its a shade under 9 pounds.
21.
Have you a hardcase for it
No sorry.
22.
Most boutique stuff loses money fairly quickly, look at GB Spitfires in the £1500 bracket, even as a Fender USA Jazz user I'll be first to say how much better the GB is.
Pete is probably right here.
