Thanks guys.. Yeah the AG700 is out of range at the moment. Don't really need anything with that much horsepower either. I hadn't looked at the Techamp, thanks Mick. Im leaning toward the TH350, but I'm wondering how loud it is.?

Electro shock therapy.
Every time he loses his rhythm hit him with the cattle prod.
He'll soon learn.

Well first of all you don't say it like that. I saw it as at least as much a failure for me as it was for the student.
Really?, there was me thinking, I would want to actually talk to a child like that. I was leaving it up to Owen's interpretation.
When do you say. Your not musical, sorry I can't teach you. ?. That must be so difficult as a teacher. My dad has had to turn (as harsh as it sounds) kids/parents away because some ears/minds just are not geared for music.
No matter how much money is given to you as a teacher, it must be a little disheartening for all parties.
Great early DVD I've got of some great bass players discussing there technique etc. Interesting to hear how the 5 string had not been out that long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pC_uPPzyWBY
Im aware the tone isn't what we all want in an instrument. But it is an eye/ear opener. Its a great example of, the mind sees what we want to hear. I thought bass 1 was the Sire.

Im looking for a light weight head, but my knowledge is limited. My previous amp was an Aguilar AG500 and just loved it, but didn't like the weight. So thats a reference point maybe.
Ive been looking at the Tech 21 VT 500 or the TH350 second hand. My budget is £500 max.

If you can pass on all our best wishes and hope he returns to BC for some constructive debate it would be appreciated by many i would think.
I certainly will do Dave.
Ive just updated my MacPro to Sierra. I have a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 running into it, but its not recognising the interface.? I can play and hear the bass, but audio/signal from YouTube isn't running through the interface.
Im thinking I need to update the Saffire software.?
Any ideas.?

Am i missing something. I havent read the whole thread properly so do correct me.
My definition of choking a note, is because the string at some point along the neck is too close to the frets. Of course there is a buzz you get, but depending on the relief of the neck and also the trueness and levelling of the frets, one will get a few choked notes.
A super low action will go past the buzzing point and choke a note/s.?
A higher action will let the strings vibrate.?
I really dont think pickup height has anything to do with it.
I prefer the neck on a Maruszczyk to a 5 string Fender. It was like a Lakland 55. Much more comfortable for me. Lets not forget you can specify your neck with a Maruszczyk. So its a mute point. The biggest deal i found is with a Maruszczyk in particular, your getting a high end bass, for way less money than a high end Fender.
Fender are riding on there name to certain extent.
