1. Gotta love that. !! I wish i had the cash from my Sire for this. These 50th's dont come up very often.
2. I actually prefer these top end MIM 70's jazz basses to the American Vintage AVRi's.
3. It's the one bass I have no desire to own. Don't like anything about it.
4. It's a great jazz bass. New Nordstrand single coils. New Hipshot A bridge. New DR Fatbeams on the bass. Sounds fantastic. 9.2 pounds. It' got a chip in the paint where your arm rests. And a ding under the upper horn. We all know about these basses. I can deliver,or meet up with the bass within a reasonable distance.
5. I forget how old he is now. His playing has always been so very musical. Wonderful bass playing from this guy. When people say, natural talent, this is what i think of.

9. There alot more expensive than Thomann. Ash V7 5 at Thomann with free shipping is£511. same bass at Anderton,s is £559.
10. Are we talking about the guitar or the bass.? I cant think of the last exciting bass solo, on its own without some chords in the solo.

12. possibly the sexiest bass body shape ever.
13. Impossible to define. because there are biillions of different ears in the world.
14. There is a reason why i think hes the best bass player alive. Hes not just a bass player, he's a multi instrumentalist. THAT, is what what makes him the best bass player alive today.. imo. Funk on the bottom, and Jazz on the top.
15. Anyone notice it has the proper 70,s pickup spacing.? It's what Japan Fender used to call a non export model.
16. The LH3 found in the later 5502 is great. I had a 5501 Deluxe. Put in a Glock preamp and a pair of Nordstrand Fat Stacks. Sounded amazing.
Happy days! Didn't realise these were routed so cleanly (i.e. not a big old chunk out the body) so you can remove the scratchplate. If I wasn't tempted before I am now.....
Well there isnt a route as such, but the front pickup routing is not as snug as the back pickup. Was the same on the 5 string. Just to let you know.

Got this little number. Most know how good these basses are. Way beyond there price. Sire V7 Vintage. I havent played a 4 string for a few years, so this is a joy to play. I had the 5 string version but in tobacco. A little too heavy for me. Its been upgraded with a HipShot bridge and Nordstrand NJ4 single coils. The stock pickups sounded good anyway, but the Nordy's have a bit more warmth and punch, and the highs are more subtle. (imo) So much power on tap, its just a beast of a 4 string. Ive owned alot of Jazz basses, and i would say this is the best tonally. It just growls big time. It has some dings and knocks, needs some foam under the pickups. Does it bother me. Nope. So great to be playing again.
19. Single coils, (and the way they wound them) thickness of the wire. and 70's spacing. The old wood may have something to do with it. And a little bit of nostalgia of course. Also, our brain does have a tendency to see things differently, when there is something expensive involved. All these put together are a recipe for bass love. I don't believe in the word MoJo.
20. I get the feeling that a floppy B string is a neck construction thing. but also from the pickups involved. just sayin.
