1.
Define 'better'.
More basses for sale within a forum.
2. Ive looked. I cant find one. Talk Bass is a treasure trove of amazing second hand basses, but too far away.
3. I cant see any of these vids on my Mac. Still cant work out why.
4.
Yes, it's quite inconsequential. I stand by my opinion - but it's just that; I'm sorry for bringing a negative tone to a good natured thread. @Bubinga5, I've enjoyed many of your contributions, so thanks for sharing. I do hope you all don't mind my nitpicking.
Not at all. It's an interesting point.
5. Anyone own one.? MM +Jazz.
6.
Maybe I wasn't clear, but that is exactly my point! I'd much rather hear the occasional bum note than listen to mechanically 'cleaned up' vocals.
Yeah you threw me there. Are you saying that the vocals are digitally enhanced.?
7.
Just listen to the video you posted of I can't go for that. The vocals are chock-full of pitch correction artefacts. I suppose it's a bit peevish, but I can't genuinely enjoy live performances if there's that kind of tinkering going on. To me it sort of goes against what makes performing live music worthwhile. Edit: I'm sorry, I suppose there was really no need for me to bring it up. I enjoyed the video with Diane Birch. The additional posts just reminded me of how I felt about the show in general.
I think your asking for perfect pitch in a situation where they are playing live. Ive seen Stevie Wonder live, where he doesnt hit the right note. I overlook it. But yes i hear it. Do i care, not really. Thats the great thing about humans making music. Its human. If i want perfect, i will listen to a computer.
8. Totally slick band. Just amazing funk from Jam in the Van. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0H4mL3OW-4
9.
I liked the song with Diane, and I like the idea of the series, but the pitch correction in many of these recordings completely spoils it for me.
What do you mean.?
10. Yep. Chromeo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOE1-2Fza5Q
11. Great Bass, Have a bump for your playing alone. Great stuff Liam.
12. I adore this woman's voice and her music. Such a fantastic record. Great all round performance at Daryl's house. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9lyrOETXao&list=RDBzWRT-PAGQk&index=12
13. Yep. There as good as any other Super Jazz or P 5 string.
14. Sire easily. Not sure about short scale basses
15. What i would do, is enjoy the basses you have and spend the money on the other priorities apart from your need for a Pbass pickup in a bass. But thats just me. Any of your current basses will do Funk and Soul and Bite, and anything else in between.
16. He's awsome. Had a beer with him and Michael League in a sh*t club in Cheltenham.
17. Most are talking about the audience, not noticing the difference in bass tone. Nothing to do with music difference
18. I think the finger board has more difference on tone than the body does
19. No The preamp is so powerful and comprehensive, i find it hard to understand you cant get a tone you like with the same preamp, but because its ash, its that different.. If it was a passive bass, you might be able to hear nuances in tone. Even if the pickup spacing is 70's there isnt a huge difference.. i dont believe ash or alder make a huge difference in tone. The preamp and pickup windings have way more influence on tone.
20. Im pretty sure i owned this bass a few years ago. Same grain. It was a fantastic 5 string with a great tone. Such great basses.
21.
Another company making Fender clones...why??
Because lots of bassists like the look of Fenders.
22. Top end Tune from the 90,s. I remember these. Really like this.
23.
So you think the NJ1's above the original suggestion of 9cbjs /or 9j1s? Thanks for the help guys! Will check out the NJ1s now.
Sorry i meant 9J1's
