He was THE musical master imo. Music and ideas poured out of him. Only Stevie Wonder is equal. Just think about the huge amount of music he didn't release.

I have to say that I don't believe in the concept of perfection. That's my excuse for putting Tenacious D up (above).
I do however have many songs that I like a LOT. Trouble is I sometimes play them to the point of boredom. Then it's time to move on. Mood is such a factor in my enjoyment that asking me what I think of as perfect is like asking someone to nail a jelly to a jack-in-the-box.
Yes i agree. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Im with you Blue. I love the groove. But i wouldn't say he's the direction that bass playing is going. There are so many directions.
I think ears should always be open, but yeah I'm with Rocco and Mr Rainey. Don't forget Willie Weeks

There's a groove in there somewhere...
No there isn't. He's a great bass player but i can't get past his voice. its not good for my ears.
Love the album that this comes from. Love the drumming and the piano.the little spanish guitar details.
A very slick, well put together record. imo
Its just sublime music, imo. One of my favourite funky soul tracks of all time. some great tasteful/bass/slap playing to a good ear.
